Inspired by all those GREAT new Spanish Civil War era aircraft by
DreamK I have built a campaign using many of them, employing the STUNNING Madrid map by
Redeye_Jir:
"Battle for Madrid" is a semi-historical,
16-mission static campaign, set in October to November 1936. You are a pilot that has sided with the Spanish Republic, against the Nationalists, and you will be flying a variety of aircraft - something that reflects both the chaos and the desperate need for modern aircraft that was seen on the Republican side at this stage of the war. You will start off with the Nieuport 52, switch to the Loire 46 followed by the Fury, then fly two bombing missions in a Potez 25, before finally ending up with the Dewoitine 371.
You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1288The Civil War is in its third month. After relieving their troops besieged in Toledo, and after a period of bad weather, the Nationalists under Franco are ready to advance on their ultimate goal: Madrid! These diversions has held up the attack on the capital by up to a month, giving the Republicans time to prepare its defence. And although the Nationalist troops are far better trained and equipped than their opponents, their task will not be easy, as they are outnumbered over two to one by the defenders. At the same time the situation on the Republican side is still quite chaotic, with most of the fighting done by untrained and unruly militias.
The war has attracted a lot of foreign interest. Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany started to support the Nationalists. At the same the Republic is about to receive massive military aid from Stalin’s Soviet Union. The war in the air is getting more and more intense, as both sides gets new equipment.
I usually try to
limit the number of new MOD aircraft required for a single campaign, but here the aim has been to use as many as possible of the new SCW ones, of course within the historical limits. (Juanmalapuente has helped me out with the tricky task of getting the timing right for the different aircraft types.)
So beside those SCW aircraft that can be found in DBW 1.7 I have also used the following of
DreamK's creations:
*
the Dewoitine 371
* the Nieuport 52
* the Breuget XIX
* the Loire 46
* the Potez 25
* the Heinkel 46
* the Romeo Ro.37Then, of course, also the new
Savoia Marchetti SM.81 by
Giotto.
I have myself started to use the wonderful new
Fiat CR.32 by
Molva and
Nachprod - the campaign is designed so it won't matter if you have the new CR.32 or the old frankenplane version.
The campaign comes with 25 skins, courtesy of
Archie, Agracier, Juanmalapuente, Tchaika, Patrulla Azul and
HK.
