Potentially Newbie Question: Screen Goes Black When Shot

Since installing SAS/UP3 I've noticed that sometimes when I'm shot the screen immediately goes black until the plane crashes.  I'm not 100% sure if this is supposed to represent my player being killed, but I think I still have control after the screen goes black.

Anyone encountered this before, or is it just my player dying?

Thanks, I never noticed it before the update. Was that down to luck or do the modifications handle it differently?

very much down to luck, pure luck.....:D
the 'black screen of death' is an all too familiar site in the stock game, hopefully a bit less so if you use the AI mod, which reduces the sniper ability of AI gunners somewhat...;)

Switch to external view and you will see your pilot death in the aircraft

lol i changed that, now it says "They got you!!!" instead :P

STD/i18n I believe...not sure which file exactly. Maybe hud_msg.ru. Or maybe it is in the i18n folder in the main game folder...
