Idea of improvement damage level for vessels and tanks

Hello, as far as I understand, sinking ships in the il-2 means 'deliver adequate amounts of explosives' to destroy the vessel compartment and then vessel (or tank) is destroyed. I think it is a very rigid and schematic and therefore unrealistic.
However, I am aware of the difficulties in creating more realistic levels of damage for every vessel and tank in game. So maybe instead it would be easier to create an algorithm that assigns to bombs and torpedos random destructive power (for example 60%-150% of current values of destructive power but with the same weight of bombs and torpedoes). I think it would more imitate both critical hits and the hits do not endanger the life of a vessel or a tank with less difficulties in implementing damage level for every vessel or tank in the game.

What do you guys think about my idea?
