What is the purpose of adding such objects to maps ? (as map objects are completely neutral and unmovable)
Anyway, very interesting little ships for mission makers
On certain maps it can make mission making much simpler. In concrete terms I was thinking of a map I almost have finished. It is of Spanish Morocco. To show the Alhucemas landings properly there is a need for a confusion of tents and sheds on the landing beaches ... and I mean as in D-Day Normandy ... additionally there were fixed gun emplacements and trenches on the heights above the landing beaches and having artillery in place on the map can save lots of time. Also the beaches were propped full of temporary jetties and improvised piers along which were anchored a multitude of small craft - barges, Gallipoli landing craft, small steamers etc ... you would need some 50 to 100 ship objects to do the scene justice.
So my thinking would be to embed them into the map from the go ahead. If I am not mistaken - but feel free to advise me of any misconceptions I probably have - aren't embedded objects somewhat less frs intrusive than those placed in FMB when making a mission?
And the same goes for airfields. I have little patience when setting up missions to make detailed placements of all the myriad of static objects available. There are so many to choose out of - more than 2000 by last count - that just finding the one you are looking for is so time consuming. Better to have all the trucks, and cars and vans and whatnots already embedded on the map - that's my approach anyway.
