ceege, the only thing I can think is that it's to do with your user settings - are you sure you're running as Administrator when you make the changes?
Double-check that, I'm sure it's got something to do with your problem.
Also, what's the location of your IL2 install. I know that if it's inside Program Files, you might have this problem....

Mines in D/Il2 Sturmovik 1946 Its nowhere near program files.

Ok how do I run my changes as administrator, maybe this is a silly question, but can you give me a quick tutorial anyway as I'm running out of ideas fast on this ?

Thanks again

ok, if you right-click on the IL2 exe, you should have an option 'Run as...'
If you select this, you should find the option to run as Administrator.
I'm not using Win7 at the moment, but I assume it's the same as XP. Let me know....

Ok I've done this and clicked the Il2 exe as run as administrator , the game starts but no Matmanager files show up. It started ok anyway from my desktop icon without running as administrartor before no problems at all. I'm running Halken (swastika) enabler mod also, does this make any difference ?

the Haken mod shouldn't really make a difference. I'll have to think about this a bit more....if anyone else has any ideas, now would be a good time to chip in... ;)

Its the read only thing that is causing all the problems I am sure. I'm trying to change the settings in paintschemes but the stupid computer won't seem to keep the changes I'm making. I've used MatManager on all of my previous installs and no issues there . I'm using the 2,36 self installing program also and have pointed it at the exe. The program will run but as soon as I save load and quit to install everything it goes south with the warning box I have described.
Thanks for any further help

ceege, I'll keep looking, but I know that MatMangaer has often caused headaches for many in the past. You might have some luck looking on the Ubisoft site, I think they have some great threads that cover all the possible Mat Manager issues.
Maybe try to contact BearCat, he's an admin over at the Ubi-forum, and will more than likely be able to point you in the right direction. He's a member here as well, just PM him... ;)

* edit by me: Ubisoft, not Ubi-zoo  ;)
