ATTENTION! If you don't use some engine flame effect mod, or landing gear damage mod, or Tiger33 UV3 mod... skip this thread and continue on as if nothing. You do *not* really need this 3do folder.

This folder contains all PA_Jeronimo's 3d improvements plus other 3d additions & fixes combined together. It does NOT contain classfiles, pure 3do.

This folder started as a complement needed by engine flammes mod and landing gear damage mod but has  grown into much more than that. Here the initial motivation and my contribution:

A) adding (specific) hitboxes to meshes for those planes that originally do not have them, in particular landing gear hitboxes to allow gear damage (often needs classfile edit for full working deal) and Blister hitbox to allow blister damage to be codded on the java (you can of course have different kind of damages designed, but all NEED a hitbox in the mesh).

B)  check and re-locate / re-orient engine flame hooks in engine meshes of as many aircrafts as possible (LOTS of engine flame hooks relocated and a LOT added from scratch, sometimes also smoke hooks) This allows to fully enjoy the flame effect mod that Tiger33 included in UV3, and also any other future such mod. I also added new engine flame EFS hooks in some early jets for a special start up effect on them.  Some engine flamme hooks were retaken from Tiger33 (details in readme)

The main reason that forced me into including work by others is to avoid compatibility issues (many fixes HAVE to be combined into the very same mesh, so compatibility is only possible through inclusion)

*Work from others: a LOT*  And therefore I named the folder with alphabetical list of all major contributors of its content.
Here included:

1) all -and latest- PA_Jeronimo engine cowling reworks, with engine flame hooks added by me (and a few taken from Tiger33, details further below). It of course has a lot of Birdman's corrections as included in PA_Jeronimo's folders (LOD  and some smoothing fixes, etc)
PA_Jeronimo fixes included (no modification made to them unless otherwise specified):
A-20C (my engine hooks added)
A-20G (had already my hooks)
AviaB534 (note: as propeller hub of AviaBK534 is different -cannon mouth- it was not replaced by PA_Jeronimo's update)
B5N2
B-17 + Birdman prop fix
B-25  (engine hooks modified)
Beaufigther
bf-109s  (trop folders not included as they are redundant and obsolete: DBW trop 109 use regular variant folder)

2) Combined Contrail fix by Cirx https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3925.0.html
-B-24
-Halifax (does not contain any other fix)
-P-38 fix was already included in UP3 meshes used here (P-38L/J stock 411m meshes were used for stock P38LJ folder instead of UP meshes, added contrail fix myself)
-Magister fix was already included in DBW meshes used here
-Wellington fix not included as a proper model is being worked by TD
-U-2TM fix included since UP3 missed it.
-P-26 fix (included in UP3 as well) added in case HSFX missed it. Does not contain any other fix.
-P-51 contrail fixes included and extended to all 'pre-D' family (D never required fix)
-Avia B-534 fix included and extended by me to Bk-534 (oil hook and engine flame+smoke hooks also fixed)

3) a sligthly reworked version of my first mod ever (Bf110G4 exhaust dampener reorientation)https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,26242.0.html  with appropriate engine flame hooks for it

4) New Hurricane Spinners by Red_Fox90, (carefully extended to many other hurri folders -checking for proper propeller on photo evidence in case of HurriFac and finish Hurri ) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,20730.0.html

5)
G55 fixes from Birdman https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13418.0.html

6) Re2002 fixes from Birdman https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,14943.0.html

7) Includes 411m Fixes collected by Birdman

8 ) Loku G-50 bomb mod meshes

9) Red_Fox60's Ju52 overhaul mod included for compatibility sake (credits: Original base for work from 1C, Exhaust rings on wing engines and textures by SAS~crazyflak, New engines and gears 3d by Red_Fox90) and the work by Epervier on Ju-52_3mg3e also for compatibility sake.

10) a modified Sputnik's Ju88G6 hier.him to go with my modified classfile that let's you choose radar on loading screen.

11) I also included the default skins I adapted (from others skinners -Hayate, MaxTheHitman and Burglord) for Ju88C6 since they were not included in UP30 (but are in DBW17)

12) Since Tiger33 independently re-located and fixed engine flame hooks for many aircrafts (as included in his UV3 first release), I compared all planes and when notoriously better I took his hooks

13) I recovered part of the old well known engine start up effect from slipry, as it got right the only thing that is common to all engine start ups: a LOT of white smoke.

14) vpmedia's New damage layers for all Bf-109/Fw-190/Yak/La/Spitfire  + all fixes included in his mod here as of 01-09-2012

15) Birdman's fix for CANT1007 propellers, which are inverted in stock 410/411m. Now they have correct blade orientation as per historical photos (and spin direction)

It also fixes the noseart 'boo-boo' on P-51s (nose arts not showing, for instance, in HSFX6)

READ the README! Many choices have to be made by the user

What you don't use/like from it, it is easy to remove.

Install hint: Put in your "#DBW/MODS/#SAS/whatever" folder. To use as complement to UV3 you can also look inside jsgme UV3 folder, find the "3do" folder and replace it by the "3do" provided in the link.

Just looked at the download size on mediafire and it says the file is only 33.66MB. Is this correct?

Yes, it is all text-format meshes, so they get a huge compression rate when zipped, as they get zipped as text ;)

zipped 33.66MB  -------> unzipped 1.38GB approx

I am never going to be a modded, it is just too much writing on the read me file

I tend to type too much, but besides the credit to others (which I find important) it turns to be a time saver: if you don't carefully keep detailed track of what you did and what you included, a few months later you will no longer be sure what is done and what is left to do  ----> you find yourself re-doing stuff that was already done and wasting a lot of time double-checking stuff.

Very good job ..now UV3 is really complete.

Merci a toi, Bertrand! Il faut verifier possibles erreurs/omissions sur HSFX6, puisque je ne joue pas dessus assez longtemps. Je compte bien faire une batterie d'essais pour detecter les (toujour possible) oublis et erreurs... mais il me faut un peu de temps :)

Hi CF!

I installed this "Unified 3d Folder" according to your instruction on Tiger 33's UV3 thread.

Unfortunately, I'm getting about 50% of times a game lock just after loading: I mean, mouse do not move on Main Menu screen and I'm forced to hit CTRL+Alt+Del to close IL-2 and restart. I wonder if could be related to this patch and if there's a fix.

Besides, I would suggest a few things:
1). Shorter file name (could be "Unified 3d Folder")
2). Richer Readme with some detail and even images about main improvements (honestly, so far I for sure was able to notice only different flame at engine start and fixing of Bf 110F-2 right engine assemble; I'm unable to detect, for instance, all the work done on P-38)
3). Simpler installation (with related instruction): without going to the idiocy of "autoupdating", a self-extracting executable could do the job. Of course, this would require personalized versions: in this regard, I could give my contribution assembling a version just for HSFX 6 and posting it on M4T, if you give permission.

Take all this only as hint by an enthusiast and not as criticism, please. Anyway, still accept my thanks, to you and everybody collaborated in this work.

Regards,
GB
