G'day Sir,
after a allnight test I can say this: no more pauses and fps dropdown durin' control tower comms (the same as for staffel pilots voices).

So alea iacta est, it seems a winner trick. Today I'm going to resample Japs voices but not in stereo this time.

The only fault I can see it's the relevant new dimension of those files (from 4,5Mb to 125Mb DE folder only - stereo not mono).

I'm happy your busy in others stuffs (IL2)...this mean others beautifull mods!

P.S I'm honored about an eventual contribution of mine
Cheers

Hi hguderian  :)

well , then it looks like we might have a winner trick for HD and other onboard sound cards  :D
I was delighted to hear that , excellent news , can't wait to get my testing going on
but I knew those converted voices were not causing anymore any game pause at least for me .
It might not be the cure for all systems suffering from some kind of microstuttering sound related
voice communication speech issues and game pause but at least there is now new hope  :)
Very appreciate all you've been doing with speech sound files resampling , it's a tremendous
help and it sure must be time consuming with Microsoft recorder application .
If you ever happen to resampling speech folder in to .wav PCM format either 44 or 22kHz ,
mono or stereo with minimum sounds distortions during testing , you have new mod release
right there hguderian  :)
I wish I can do more to help to speed up the process but I have to work with our effects
team on our new mod project and my play and issues needs to wait until my part required work is
done so we can all progress .
(from 4,5Mb to 125Mb DE folder only - stereo not mono) is a little bit more than I thought when
resampling my just few sound files as the difference did not seemed to be that bigger  ;D
Me , personally , I don't care if it is 1GB big file folder as long as I can use and hear
voice communication without stutter and game pause to get some immersion during flying .
I will just replace game original speech folder with a new resampled one  ;)

WooHoo !!

Thank you , keep up the good work !

S!

Nice findings guys, sure helps a lot of players. Sounds have always been a bit of a culprit in IL2 since beginning. Always a bit of tweaking here and there to get it to work etc. But I took a bit different approach on the sound issue though, NoPilotChatter=0 and no more annoying wingmen screaming they have pooped their pants or are going down in flames when the plane has already exploded etc ;)

@HolyGrail
OK, I've had enough time today to make more tests and I'm terribly sorry to say that I gave you a wrong advice  :(. I found that Mediacoder is too buggy for what you want to do. I made further searches on the net and more tests, and I found this very small piece of software: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html. It can work recursively on a lot of files at once, keeping the original directory structure and is incredibly fast and easy to use (and it works  :-[).
Again I'm really sorry to have wasted your time.

Hi Korrigan  :)

nothing terrible happened and you don't have to be sorrry for anything ,
All it takes for us is a few seconds to uninstall sound editor software and
registry clean up with CCleaner  ;D
It's always better to try something than nothing  :)
When I get more time I'll take a look on your new link for download .

One way or another speech sound files folder is gonna be converted  :D
Nothing can stop us now , it's just matter of available free time to finish it  8)
hguderian was also maybe able to do some convertion already and is
experimenting with what's best bit rate , audio sample size , channels and
audio sample rate .

After many days (and thousand clicks) I've finished to convert DE and JA folders.
I've tried to use those softwares but they don't resample sounds correctly (surely by my fault)

I converted GB folder with Korrigan´s second facility. My settings 22050 Hz,16 Bits, mono.Tryied in BOE RAF fighter campaign and there are no more micro-stutters ! Radio messages are sometimes shortened like missing heading only altitude , but I can live with.

I've choose the more longer way of Microsoft record application but this don't shorten samples.

If anyone is interested we can share those folders. I'll start to resampling IT speech one of these days

It's great to se progress !! I am completely out of order  ???
I got hit by laziness and trying to get well soon as possible .
I was so fed up with game second pause and microstutters each time
someone on the radio opened his mouth that I did shut radio voices
to have smooth fighting in the skies  :)
Main reason why I was considering previously 8 bits option was to
keep converted speech sound files to be smaller in size .
I have no idea how big each country speech folder could be with 16 bits
convertion in PCM .wav format .
As long as it helps with mysterious game pauses and stutters , that's
all that matters  :D
Keep up the good work guys !!!
Once again , I would like to reiterate my appreciation for the work you
all are doing on behalf of those of us who got lately laziness flu  8)

Hi hguderian  :)

thank you so much for telling me the new converted sizes of DE and JA speech
folder example for comparison , folders size increase is acceptable for me but indeed Oleg&1C
did compressed sound files to save on hard disk space and main size of the game .
I definitely prefer uncompressed speech sound files PCM format as it seems that onboard
Realtek HD audio and some other sound cards are otherwise struggling with compressed
radio voice speech during each voice trigger for processing by onboard sound card .
1 or 2 GB of speeech folder size is not bothering me as long as those dreadful game pauses
and some stutter are gone during radio voice communication  :D
It's a lot of work by using Windows default Microsoft record sound converting application ,
I am sure you did spend many hours and hours converting speech sound files hguderian 8)
