Propeller Textures by Stuka_40
« on: January 06, 2010, 03:22:11 PM »

This is one of my favourite mods, and one I refuse to play without.

This package contains 4 variations of Propeller Texture Mod by Stuka_40
You should choose one, depending on your requirements.

CHOOSE ONLY ONE! remove or disable the others from your mods folder.

Use the included pictures as a guide between the three main versions.

The "improved default" version is like the game's default textures, but using all the custom files for planes made by stuka_40 for this mod, thus, more accurate for some plane types previously "neglected".
The "Light" and "Dark" versions gets rid of the "Disk" and makes it all just "cooler" (Especialy for those of us who grew up with war comics.
The 4th version is the same as the "light" version, but contains fewer files and modifications, it only modifies stock tga's. It is thus not so customised as the original vas_propmod it is based on, but it loads faster and uses fewer resources. Intended for the performance gamer. It is a "Simple" version.

For whatever it is worth, I personaly use the "Light Simple" version or the "Light" version, depending on my installation.

Below follows Stuka_40's original readme

propeller mod versions 4.0
_________________________

Hi to all!
----------

This is a new propeller mod, with new propeller textures and adjusted propellor.mat files to match correct propeller texture.
For propeller textures, i have chosen default propeller colour in default skins, so if you have customized skin for your aircrafts and skinner may have chosen another colour for propeller,it will get default colour when propeller begin to spin.

40 new propeller textures have been created, almost all Japanese aircrafts have got new propeller textures.
For Fw-189A-2 the propellers size, and the right engine propellers have been corrected and centered.
All B17, B24, B25, B29, P47, P51, Mc,Tb-3, ju87(STUKA), ju52 series and almost all
aircrafts have got new propeller textures which matches their default skins.

Install:

Just extract to temp folder, you will see a new folder called "vas_prop_mod_(Version)_v4.0" and put this folder
inside your Mods folder.

** REMEMBER IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER PROPELLER MOD YOU HAVE TO DISABLE IT.( PUT A MINUS SIGN IN FRONT OF ITS FOLDER)

Thanks.
I use the first one and think it is the most realistic!  8) but I think that it'd be absolutely perfect mod if the fist one is a LITTLE more lighter.

Does the blurred prop blade turn slowly with this mod?

I wish it was only enabled on the outside views, the flickering from inside the cockpit is annoying and tires your eyes. From the outside it does look nice!

I think the improved default looks the best. It's the closest to real life propellers.

Although for even more realism, at anything faster than an idle it really should look just like a barely visible grey disk. From inside the cockpit, the rotation isn't actually visible at speeds over ~1500 rpm.

Hi all!

Great improve about this mod but i must i agree what he saied Borsch about his post:

...awesome for fly by view or screenshot, but watch it by cockpit view ,after long session, the eyes feel very tires.

This is just my opinion and.....anyway...thanks Stuka_40 for your work! ;)

This is one of my favourite mods, and one I refuse to play without.

-I also!!!  ;D

I use "Dark" versions gets rid of the "Disk" and makes it all just "cooler" (Especialy for those of us who grew up with war comics.)  ;D
Just like on this photo:

BUT -in new DBW when i put this MOD it dos not change the look of Bf-109's and FW-190's propeller....  :'(
and it looks more like this:

Personaly I dislike the "Disk" effect and want to disable it wit this lovely Stuka MOD -but it doesn't works for german fighters  :(

SO THIS IS HOUMBLE REQUEST -could someone involved in this project upload a new wersion -that also works fine for Bf-109's and Fw-190's in DBW???
PLEASE!  :D

I discovered that this issue also concerns other planes -not onley the Bf-109's and Fw-190's but all german planes -and 2 blede blanes like P.11c.

-Maby someone of more experienced mate could help me fix that problem -maby there is a trick to disable the "stock" DBW propellers - and then Stuka MOD will work fine for all planes??  ;)

I would be very grateful for help or advice!  :D
