Pilot Sunglass Effect
« on: November 30, 2012, 03:15:23 AM »

Hi everybody
I would like to suggest the creation of a mod that simulates the use of a sunglass by the pilot.
With the new pilots from Barnesy, we would have the same vision that the real pilots use to have in real life, as it seems that most of the pilots use to wear sunglasses to avoid the effects of the sunlight.
I think that this kind of mod should not be so difficult to create, as compared to what our great and talented mod comunity is capable of.
All the best

~S~ Gerson,

Something like this is very possible considering this :

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=32255

We've been using either the "FXAA Injector" or "Sweet FX" utilities to fine tune Cliffs of Dover.

As you can read about, once installed it's as easy as toggle on/off using the Pause Break button.

If either of these do work with 1946... you could set a wide array of profiles to mimick lenses of many colors.

You have to register to Download from the thread,... I'll prolly try this in 1946 since I have the FXAA already.

Good Hunting ~S~

Well, if we could put a square with a transparent black texture in front of the the camera in the cockpit view is a more simple way to go. ;)
Something like we have on the BF-109's gun sight.

Why not just buy a pair of sunglasses and wear them when you fly?  ;) :) :P

AAAHAHAHAHA!  :D I do that! I do that!  8)
I do wear glasses and they are tinted.
But seriously tho, one of the first things I do in my conf.ini is just turn off the sun-glare mode
that usually show those little squares/triangles on the screen while your flying.
The other thing you could do is tweak your monitors screen brightness or gamma settings.

Here is a crazy idea... I read somewhere once, that some guy was using tranparent colored paper
(like acetate colored transparent paper) and placing it over his monitor to recreate the feeling of
flying with night-googles on. Or sunglasses. I never understood if he meant flying at night or
flying during the day time  :P Whatever. Sounds pretty radical to me  ;D

Thanks for your reply guys.
Speaking seriously I think this could be a nice mod to improve the realism of our loved sim.
I think that the best way to do it would be like pressing a shortcut on the keyboard that simulates the use of the sunglasse. In less bright conditions you should just hit the shortcut again and the shade effect would disapear, like taking the sunglasse off in real life.
There are some gapagama software that should do the task, but Im not the expert with the right tools for the job.
Is someone there up to the task?
Thanks a lot guys.
All the best

Gapagama and some real sun glasses will not work.
After the engine draws the scene and the airplane is not there because of the sun, the scene is complete and the point or shadow that represents the airplane is not there.
So we will see just a less bright sun, but without the airplane.
I think that a texture inside the cockpit will work because we already have something like that in the 109's gun sight and it works.
We can test it pressing the Ctrl+D when flying a 109.
