Download Wind Sound Effect Mod"In cockpit wind sound effect" mod by
papoteRepacked by CirX
What this mod does: If set up properly, all it does is introduce the sound of the atmosphere, the wind, into your game environment. If you do it very subtly, the effect is quite amazing.
To instal this properly: set music to "on" and set volume to taste as indicated in the picture. I set my volume quite low. This is an immersion effect, and should not be overpowering.
Then delete the Crash, TakeOff and inFlight folders from IL2Sturmovik\samples\Music\ , and replace with the ones in this mod.
For guys who dont like the music to play in the menu's when you have turned the music to "on", simply delete the music tracks from
IL2Sturmovik\samples\Music\Menu and
IL2Sturmovik\samples\Music\Intro
Difference between this version and the old version by Papote: This version does not use the airfield sounds by Bee. (Although they are good.) This only uses the wind effects, so it is all the more subtle. The original version of this mod was posted at aaa yonks ago, but is now not available anywhere anymore.

installation:
these files go in:
in IL2-46/SAMPLES/MUSIC
delete the files in Crash, TakeOff and inFlight folders. and replace with mine
these sounds add ambient when sitting in the cockpit
i made the in flight wind effects.
the 4 files in the in flight folder are the wind effect and they wil play in sequence.
to hear these effects you need to have the music "ON"
in the sound settings, now its up to you how loud you want the effects.
you can adjust the volume of these effects with the music knob.
best way is just to set a quick mission and start in the air, listen to the wind- from there you can hit ESC and get to the sound settings where you can adjust with the MUSIC KNOB how loud you want the wind effect. you want to have the wind slightly audiable.
all other sounds(crash and take off sounds) are ballanced with the wind effect.
the reason for this is IMMERSION BABY!
