Man this is getting addictivaly fun. Seamless tiles fixed so I need my fix. Darkend and added more contrast on the rock and it came out a little darker just like I wanted. Played with the sand with tone and wow I think I need to get swimsuit and go swimming.

Hi Stranger. One thing I like to do when I retexture a map is to play with the textures size on the map to see if they will look better larger or smaller.

You can help them to look smaller by adding a   ,2 or ,4   at the end of their entry in the load.ini. This helps to stop them from becoming "blurry" when you are flying close to the ground and like your sand you have there to make the " dunes" look smaller to what would be in real life.

If you add a ,-2 or ,-4 the texture will look larger and that can be helpfull if the texture shows in a small area and you want to adjust its look.

Hey Bombsaway Thanks for the comment. I am a fan of your work. I have looked at just about all of your work. In fact your work inspired me to do this because you made it look so easy. So the -4 will work. On my coral I used -2 to give less tiling I did not know you can use -4 thanks.
Sand I use a bump map maybe take it off and try maybe 4 to give it less volume. Also about the sand I noticed I need 2 sands one facing north to south and another going like east to west to give a better look around the Island. Looks wierd when the dunes are going perpindicular to the water.  Thanks again for your comments.

Thank you for you kind words Stranger. :) Using ,-2 and ,-4 or the ,2 and ,4 can be tricky though. In the shallows you can use ,-2 to help stop the tile effect BUT you may end up with a "line" in the water. Its hard for me to explain. I'm off work tommorrow and will try to post a pic of what I mean. Also on land if you use ,2 or ,4 if the texture covers a large area it can end up looking tiled even worse. It takes time to play with the textures and see how you want to use them. I also use a photo program to edit the textures to get rid of any bad repeating patterns or lines.
If you look at the Falklands/Malvinas map I retextured the land is covered mostly by one texture so I spent a lot of time editing it so it had as little tile effect I could.
There are many mappers better than me. Agraicer, Boomer, Blumax, Redko, SAS~Farrang Canonuk, Cyberolas and many others here. I'm sure you will find a lot of help. It just takes time and patience. Beer and whiskey help some too. :)

Ok Time for a update. I think I have all my textures now. Need some more blending. All textures I downloaded off of satelite except the great coral tile that Bombsaway did. Thanks all other modders that are giving me tips along the way. PixPlant is a great easy program to get perfect seemless tiles.
Some shoreline looks.

Trying to get the crush coral look on base

Expiermenting with the city tile.

Country look with only one tile.

Mountain terrain

Another mountain terrain look

Le Shima look.

Need more blending and Bombsaway I am followimg your post on a better beach for tips. Also the textures hold up real good on low flying. Your almost dragging ground before it starts to pixalate. Thanks carmaster for his HD mod.

Sure did. All seamless textures from that program. Load texture in program, hit load seed from texture, hit genearate and them save to. That is all it is.

This will not be a year long project. I am just retexturing the default Oki. Maybe add some tress and build up the Cities and bases. Raise the coral if I get help on that. I am hoping by the end of January or the latest in Febuary. My squad is itching to fly this real soon. I am amazed how the 2048 textures hold up even flying low. I have set it up using the JSGMEMODS. (Generic Mod Enabler) You hit the default OKI map to make missions and this map will come up.
After doing some more research I changed the overall look of map. Oki was more vegetation than sand. I will post some updates soon of the new look. Finally got the base to look real good. More of a dirty look to it with the sand and crush coral. Might have a winner here on that texture.
Look how low I am and how well the texture holds up.
