Archie asked me a few days ago "if the Fokker DVII is still absent, till it comes, why not fly a DVI?" so we decided to re-open the works, take our tools and see what can be done.....take a Fokker Dr1, build a new set of wings, struts,....,paint....) well, here it is

This plane is based on the Fokker Dr1 by the AMT team:

The Fokker D-VI was designed just after the Dr.1 Triplane and it employed the same type of fuselage, tail assembly and power plant. The wing design paved the way for the later Fokker D-VII. Test flown in October 1917 and put into limited production, the D-VI used a full cantilever wing cell from which all bracing wires were almost eliminated. The performance of the D-VI was actually in many respects, superior to the 1918 D-VII.
Only 60 Fokker D.VI 1630-1689/18 were built and delivered. the remaining 210 ordered were cancelled in favor of the Fokker E.V (D8) powered by the same engine, the 9 cyl. 120-hp Oberursel UR.II. Twelve D.VI fighters were fitted with the 160-hp Goebel Goe III rotary engine and were accepted for combat service after passing the endurance tests in Aprin 1918. They were dispatched to combat units for evaluation purposes. Austro-Hungarian D.VI were powered with 11 cyl. 150 hp "Steyr Le Rhone" rotary engines.
Pilots comparing the D.VI with the Ur.II powered Fokker Dr.I triplane, reported superior visibility, because there was not middle wing, light and sensitive controls, perfect maneuverability, but strong wings vibration in a turn. The take-off was short and plane itself was easy to land with some tendency to bounce. In level flight and in shallow dive, D.VI was considered too slow for top level combat.
