There are some minor flaws in Map_C, heightmap map_H. Maybe a little better texture joints ..

If you could show me where on the map, then I'll be able to correct manually. I've run the map through the coast align tool several times, and have also manually  edited the coastlines even more often ... but with all the many islands, it's hard to cover every bit of coast ...

So, feel free to show where there are still errors ... once the location is known, it is easy to correct ...

i've taken a few scenic heli spins around the map, loving it.
haven't noticed any glaring coastal errors, myself, yet...
so far, so great!
it's a real pleasure being able to fly around with  a decent framerate....;)

I've added a 2048 texture version download in the first post. The textures are new creations, not enlargements of the old textures. The 2048 map is not a standalone version, it needs the original map to work properly. All textures, except 2 are basically the same texture as in the original.

Hi, as I'm a 4.09m rebel, using old UP2.01, I've tried setting your beautiful looking map... It loads fine but I can't save any missions because of some objects missing ? Are these objects 4.09m compatible or will this map stay a dream ?
Anyway thanks so much for the job done so far (aleutians ect...)le forban

There aren't really that many objects in this map, but I suppose that even just one missing is enough to give trouble.

I think the best thing to do is install the objects pack that Boomer (I think) once put together. I can't give a link at the moment, but I know I saw it not so long ago on SAS. It's also available on UltraPack if I am not mistaken.

Installing these objects will not intrinsically change your 4.09 version, except to add new objects, much like installing a new mod.

You'll also need the 2048 texture mod and dll's if you wish to try out the hi rez version ... I don't however know anything about compatibility of this mod with 4.09 though ...

Alternative (light version).
For those who have problems with the version of textures 2048 pixels
The basic pattern Agracier quality (1024 pixels) reduced by half.
The quality is the same as the texture 2048x2048 pixels. Slightly updated map_c.tga,
map_t.tga, map_h.tga. Reduced texture trees.
Even on old computers will be clear coastline and a decent quality of textures.

Hi,
thanks for the advices that I followed... It was quite a job to install the boomer object pack . It works fine now and it looks like the pictures shown by Mixx. It's fun and so immersive to land a KI-43 on the rough runway of the island. As for my taste, I'll put up some palm and banana trees...  :D

Glad it worked out ... this was one of the most fun maps to do and moreover one that came out looking very much as I intended (for a change ... ha ha). It also brought out an interest in the Pacific theater, especially the early years. There's also the mystique of the Great Pacific, that wide open space of water ...

Btw - thanks for the remark on the rough runway ... that is indeed how it's supposed to look, though as per friction mod, it's just as smooth or rough as any other runway ... it looks like the optical illusion works ...  :)

I loaded this beautiful map with the low res version trees and it works perfect  -

I have the Carsmaster water, and light mod in my #UP# folder , but the hi res 2048 textures are still a mystery to me -

My machine is :
 1.5 Gig video card
 8 Gigs of DDR3 Ram
 UP3 RC4 4.10.1
However I have not been  able to successfully load any 2048 aircraft skins or the most recent Unfflakke Hi Rez  Redko repaint, and yes I have the hi res trees  -

There must be some basic mod or application I am missing in my Mods Folder - I get a "map load" error in FMB

It took me several months of trying and trying again with new clean installs and such until I finally have all the new 2048 textures and skins working - skins, map textures, trees ...

For me it was success by using the 'light' version of carmaster's dll's ... I think he also sometimes refers to it as the 'gourmet pack' ...

By using those light dll's and by installing the mod of course for the skins, I have all working now. In DBW 1.71 ...
