Please make the Do 335 the German Sturmowik.
« on: March 09, 2013, 04:04:56 AM »

I like the Do 335 a lot, but it's load of weapons and bombs is rather limited. Would someone please consider to expand this with all those sexy bombs, rockets and gun packs which are available to some other planes? It would make the Do 335 the German equivalant of the Sturmowik. It ain't historical, I know, but it will be fun to use in fictional '1946'-missions.

Thank you.

Not sure whether you are sarcastic or not, although I fear so. I know of whom my suggestion reminds you, but it would be a nice German answer on the Stormowik. At the moment only the Fw-190 F and G-series and the Ju-87D and G are serious German groundattack-aircraft. I would love to see a Do 335 with gunpods, Panzerblitz missiles and such. Just a request, nothing more.

Hi Aragorn! Unfortunately it seems Germany's only answers to the IL-2 were indeed the FW 190 G and Ju 87. In DBW you can fly a variety of FW190s with awesome payloads :D The DO-335 isn't well suited to G attack I fear  :( Good luck with your request though!

Thanks, Mike! I love those sturdy 190s, they indeed pack an impressive punch, but not the way the Stormowik does. Perhaps my suggestion is nonsense, probably is, but it would be great to have a Do 335 loaden with bombs and rockets.

Good point, Panzerkeil, but mainly effective against tanks. No Panzerblitz missiles, no bombs (or hardly any, not sure).

Just a dogfight between a Ju-87 and a Sturmovik in the Iasi/Targu Frumos area in 1944, nothin' more:

I also have to say the 335 would not make a good ground attack aircraft; there is a reason why the Luftwaffe did not use their ME-110s or 410s as tankbusters and ground attack aircraft; even the HS-129 was something of a stopgap because it was not ideal for ground attack either;
the best option for the Luftwaffe was indeed the FW-190 equipped with the later war weaponry of Panzerblitz rockets and bombs;
it could fight its way in and out and still deliver a deadly punch...
