I just bought the game from GOG and they actually offer a downgrade option from 4.11.1 to 4.10m. Here is the link: http://www.gog.com/support/il_2_sturmovik_1946/downgrading_to_version_410m

Does anyone have a quick guide i can follow (step by step so i dont much it up) to install up3 RC4 and DBW?

Yeah. Download what you want then copy & Paste every thing into your root Folder!

Im now getting the UP3 5% problem, have installed the direct to drive patch and checked sound, still no luck

Any ideas? should i just install DBW?

P.S i have backed everything up so re install not a problem

Your missing an SFS File,and is why the 5%CTD
Repatch and or reinstall

5% crash on loading indicates

~You just upgraded Il2. During this you missed an SFS file Somewhere. Go back and repeat.

~You just installed a mod enabler. Then , also you might have missed an SFS file (could happen with some enablers) or, your copy of IL2 is a direct to drive copy bought over the internet.That means One of your SFS files and some of your dlls are spiked by UBI. ~Somehow your soundsetting is something other than 44.1KHz, and this is somehow screwing everything else. I personally have never been able to reproduce this crash. But know about it anyway, Access your sound settings through the IL2Setup.exe , or IL2SET.exe in your game folder. This seems to apply only to old UI installations anyway. One of those "funny little spies"

~You did nothing and now there is a 5% crash. One of your SFS files somehow got lost or corrupted. Count them and replace them if needed. Copy all SFS files over from a backup of your game

Ok, the battle continues....

I have installed the F'nbig super pack and now.... nothing will launch.  Not even the stock game.  Its not crashing at a certain point or % its just not launching.  Im quite sure i have followed all steps, running out of ideas now!

Any thoughts guys? is there a way i can bring up and error report?

Hi, Just a quick note..Did you test fly the game after each upgrade..ie..stock game 4.07..then after it is up 4.10.1...then after installing UP 3.0+ Up3.0 RC4...then DBW 1.71?  I always reboot after an upgrade and test fly the game, when all is well, then I will add new skins or aircraft.

yeah thing is i started of with 4.11.1m then patched back

After that installed the F'nbigsuperpack which should take care of everything (it has up3 RC4 and DBW)

Game just wont launch for some reason :/


Very helpful article though, am thinking easiest thing to do might be to get a hard copy and follow those steps (as opposed to the version i got of Good old games)
