Lagarto's ItalyAfricaGreece retextured
« on: March 16, 2013, 11:26:00 AM »

UPDATE Download link to version 1.1:

https://www.mediafire.com/?r59jitz9xg23b5x

Version 1.1 includes indexed textures kindly provided by Mick. There's no visual difference between the two versions, but 1.1 is lighter because all the textures are indexed (1Mb, not 3Mb), hence the map should load faster and handle better.

Glad you like it, and sorry for hijacking your thread!
I’m afraid I wouldn’t even know how to post a pack, as my experience with mods is next to none (although my overall experience with the IL-2 is over 10 years). All I did what collect some textures from other maps, drop them into your folder (_Tex/Ectoflyer), and edit the last section of the vol_ita_load.ini

By the way, I've been testing the textures on my intel core i5 + GF GTX 470 (not a high-end rig, really), with 8x time compression, and never experienced any freeze-ups.

Hi Lagarto. The 2 is used to make the texture look bigger or smaller. In the load.ini at the end of of an entry you can use ,2 or ,4 to make the texture look smaller. This can be usefull if you are flying close to the ground and you dont want the texture to look too blurry. By adding a ,-2 or ,-4 it will make the texture look bigger which is good for "filling in " some areas with the testure but you only want a part of it to show. This works for all textures on a map.

Water3 is for the beach. Water 2 is the shallows. All you have to do if you want to add new textures for the beach or shallows is make a folder called water and place it in your _tex folder. Check out my textures thread in the maps section of the forum and in there it may help you some.
If you need help, feel free to pm me.

Hi lagarto. Do you have unlocked FMB? It REALLY helps with texturing maps. Let me know and I can send it to you if you need it. :)

Thank you guys for all the help and encouragement I'm getting here and via PM, very much appreciated :)
Now I'm trying to make Greece and Northern Africa look better - without spoiling Italy (tricky!)

Looks great. It always nice to have new mapper here. That way you can take over for us old guys after a while. :) I think we all could use a rest. :)

Tripolitania and Tunisia (with awesome textures by redko):

Some more of Italy:

I'm still struggling with one texture which pops up in places where it doesn't belong :)

All these superb textures are work of other talented people, mostly agracier, RedEye_Jir and redko. I'm only composing them.
And I'm still hijacking Ectoflyer's thread, sorry about that!
