First flight of a FW190 A-8 (being restored from leftover parts of a 2.JG54 A-8 flown by Hans Dortemann) and Flugwerke parts including a Ash82 engine.
Especially noteworthy for Fw190 in Il-2:
1.) if Landing gear is down two around 1 inch long rods extend from the wing to indicate mechanically this state (as in the P-40)
2.) How easily the aircraft rolls with almost idle power which indicates that Il-2 thrust values are off (friction is out of the question because the ac decelerates as one expects).
3.) In the last low pass the pilot indicates a quick roll to the left first, just a snap but then banks right instead to go into the landing pattern, this shows what tremenduos rollrate this thing had. Furthermore it also shows how fast these aircraft bleed speed, because the pilot doesn't climb much after the low high speed pass and after completing a right turn and taking of power he can already extend flaps and gears, something you could never do in Il-2 where acs bleed almost no energy in such a situation owing to their polares having a much to steep Cy/Cx curve.
Also the ac seems to be very lively on the controls much more then a Spit for instance but well also very mannered nonetheless -> good weapons platform for a decent pilot, but certainly dangerous in blind flying conditions.
