so, next i tried the following QMB mission that comes with stock game: 001_Midway_Allies-001_Wcavu.quick

mission loads to blue sky screen - fps 0
trying to cycle through any planes, as this mission has many, all i can see is a solitary B-17 in the sky, and also a Catalina sitting on the sea with broken props.
the fps is pathetic, though, literally a slideshow averaging 0 fps.

i think it's safe to assume that this will be put down to more gremlins, and that the only real advice can be to reinstall.
i cannot spend 3-4 days on trying to fine-tune my installs, only to have to reinstall every time there's an issue.
my ratio of playing as opposed to trying to solve errors is already 10:1 for me, so for every one hour i manage to play with no problem, i have to spend another 10 trying to solve a new problem.
i don't think any sane person could justify that amount of effort, for so little reward.
for me, this has been continuing in one form or another, for over 3 months now, and i honestly don't think i have enough energy to carry on putting in so much time for a game that obviously has had enough of me...pity that it has to be the only game i ever really cared about... :(
thus, my new avatar edit.... :D

latest update: i removed a few non-essential mods, and then get to 20% game lod, when it crashes and kicks me back to the selector.
returning those same mods does not resolve the error.
so, from here on out, i cannot even provide error logs, as the game no longer loads past 20%...
it never rains....

Eugene, throw out all what it isn't necessary.

Begin to put in the most important mods first and obey the
loading order before you add anythng else.

load the Engine mod first,
then the Mission-Pro and
at least STD, XTD.

Visual Mod can be out for first trials but it
should be loaded after Engine mod and Mission Pro.
As I have no Stereo-3d_EcranWide I don't know in wich order
it should be loaded.

Mapmods, Objects etc can be anywhere, doesn't matter.

Epervier, i have no idea, mate - as i say, i built this install from scratch a few days ago, and it was running beautifully.
then, without adding or changing anything at all, this problem started, and i don't know what's causing it....
as you say, there seems to all of a sudden be many possible issues.....but how and why, i really don't know.
i do have the two jetwar sfs files in my SAS_SFS folder, but they are not enabled in .rc file.
i would prefer to not have anything to do with jetwar in this install - all i want is Pacific theater, WW2.
even so, i have been unable to install certain WW2 planes and weapons without first installing some or other jet related thing.
anyway, i eventually added the Engine mod 2.6...does this then also need the jetwar sfs files to be 'activated' in .rc?
if so, why was i able to play on this install for a day or three without issue?

i still have a 409 install, which it is becoming more apparent to me as each new day passes, is the only truly stable install i have ever had - if it does encounter problems, they are easily solved through the common bug-fix processes.
nothing mysterious/inexplicable has ever happened on my 409 installs.
i guess it is a small sacrifice to endure a longer loading time, when at least when it does load, it is stable.
as opposed to any new DBW or Modact install, which have all only worked for a handful of days, before all falling prey to some or other inexplicable problem that each time, just appears out of nowhere, with no obvious cause, and also no obvious cure.
then again, there are several 4.11.1 only mods which i would rather not have to part with, such as many of PAL mods.
i have already lost count of how many times i have had to do a fresh reinstall over the last few months, and each time a new problem presents itself out of thin air, within a few days. :(

@ Gerhard, i will try some other loading orders as suggested, and report back. ;)

here is how i now have the mods(SAS) folder:


now the game loads and plays again, but i still sense problems - for one, the FBDSM SFS files, which i activate (successfully) in most of my installs, do not appear to be working, although they are present physically and in the .rc file.
the skins that appear now, are the stock skins, not FBDSM skins, so already i see an issue, before even going any further.....

Sorry, I can not help you more... all my packs "foreigners" (all 410/411 packs) are in their minimalist version without any additional Mod (... and so they work well with nothing...).
And JetWar is not installed.

This is just to replace "/ /" with "#" in the lines that disable SFSJetWar (rc file).
I do not know if this is significant.
For the rest I do not know because as I say all my packs 410/411 are in their version minimum... very very minimum !

i know how to disable/enable the files in .rc - what i want to know is, is it necessary?
i don't have the jetwar sfs files enabled with some other installs, and they do not have such problems, so i can't see how they are essential -  i mean even if they are enabled, i do not actually have the Core Jetwar folders in my Mods folder, so most likely it wouldn't help to enable them, anyway.
