[SAS~Poltava]

1. INTRODUCTION: I have compiled an update pack for "IL 2 SCW", a simple collection of different material, designed for the modded version of the game “IL-2 Sturmovik”. "IL 2 SCW" (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,31973.0.html) contains everything you need to start simulating air combat during the Spanish Civil War 1936-39. The aim of “IL-2 SCW” is to provide a collection of mods that can be easily installed, without multiple downloads, editing of different ini-files etc. And as it is activated through JGSME.exe it can’t “break” your installation, but can be switched “on” and ”off” as the player pleases.

The base pack is supposed to go on top of a clean install of the MOD pack DBW (“Dark Blue World”), 1.71. This is an UPDATE of this base pack, with additional aircraft and other material. You MUST have the base pack installed first, otherwise this update won’t work.

2. CONTENTS AND CREDITS: This update pack contains the following new material:

A.) Eight new aircraft:

B. 21 new stationary aircraft for the following types: Ju52 3mg3e, Bristol Bulldog, Hawker Fury, Gordou-Lesseure, Letov S231, Nieuport 52, Potez 25, Breuget 19, Grumman Delfin & FF1, Fokker CX, Northrop Gamma, Koolhoven FK 51, Polikarpov RZ, Vultee V1A, SM-81, He-46 and Ro-37bis. C. 15 new armoured vehicles, including the following four SCW-era AFV’s: the L3-CV 35 Tankette, the Schneider CA.1 and the PzKpfw Ia & Ib. (Also included are remade versions of two stock tanks.) They have been made by Giotto and Wingflyer (plus probably someone more, as yet unknown – please advise) with the aid of Epervier. F. 1 new map: Northeast Spain - winter and summer versions - by Redeye_JIR. (Note that there is a beautifully updated version of this map, with versions for all four seasons, but in order to see this small wonder you will have to get Ultra_Spain!) G. The Command & Control Mod by Checkyersix, version 3.031. This new version includes (among other things) a set of mission randomizers, that are used in the campaigns that comes with this update. H. The Mortar & Infantry Mod also by Checkyersix, version 1.02, which gives you a firing mortar team plus two new types of firing infantry. This mod and more info on it can be found here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,9530.0.html

I. 45 SCW skins, by Agracier, Archie, Murdoc, Juanmalpuente, CC Tofolo, Phasmid, ManOWar, Thirteen, Mission Bug, Caldrail, Highlander 262, Imme, Mangas, Hayate and Tchaika.

J. 7 new campaigns, by Poltava, all set during the spring of 1938 in Aragon.


3. REQUIREMENTS: This update pack will ONLY work if you already have the base pack of “IL-2 SCW” installed (which in its turn goes on top of a clean DBW 1.71 install. You can download the base pack here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1581) That is IMPORTANT. If it does it is almost 100% guaranteed to work. And it can’t mess up your game, as it is activated via jgsme.


4. INSTALLATION: The installation has three easy steps:
1. Uncompress the whole downloaded file. (Note: the format is 7zip. If you don’t have that program, it can be downloaded for free here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html)
2. All three folders (“jgsmemods”, “Paintschemes” and “Missions”) are simply dropped in the root folder of your DBW install (for instance "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946"). Overwrite if prompted to.
3. In your IL-2 root folder click on the icon named “JGSME.exe”. You will find one entry named “IL-2 SCW Mod Pack for DBW”. Select it, then click on the top arrow button (“Enable selected mod”). The Mod Pack will then be enabled. After this process is finished, close JGSME, and start IL-2 the regular way. (To the disable the Mod Pack, simply reverse the process in JGSME.)


5. THE CAMPAIGNS: Included are 7 campaigns that try to portray the aerial fighting during the decisive Nationalist spring offensive in Aragon in 1938, when the Republic was split in two. These are

* Four Nationalist light bomber campaigns, for the following aircraft: the Aero A.101, the Breda Ba.65, the Imam Romeo Ro.37 and the Heinkel He-51C. Note that you will also try flying the Vultee V-1A.
* Three Republican fighter campaigns, for the following aircraft: the Grumman Delfin, the Polikarpov I-15 “Chato” and the Polikarpov I-16 “Mosca”. Note that you will also try flying the Northrop Gamma.
Note: If you are having problems with low FPS on any of these campaigns I would recommend that you disable any high-end effects pack, like Gurners (which I personally think is great, but can be a bit trying for low-end PC’s, especially if you have a lot of ground activity.)


6. DISCLAIMER: As mentioned above the material in this mod-pack has been made by others (except for the campaigns this is NOT my work). The point with this mod pack is simply to make it easier for IL-2 enthusiasts who want to get them and use them. A big, big THANK YOU to all above mentioned people who has given so much of their talent and time to the IL-2 community!

Yes, I plan to do another Update Pack eventually (and especially if DreamK comes with more SCW era aircraft), and the TD Hs-123 will be included. There is just one snag: there are no SCW skins available for it!

I'm trying to install it. Everything goes well except that when it's loading it CTD at 70% of the loading.
The only strange thing is tha when I downloaded it via M4T the folder inside (100mb) was "SCW-Mod pack Update1".
I do not see the base mod.

Well, you must follow the instructions EXACTLY, or otherwise it will not work. (Trying to run the update pack alone will of course give you a crash.) You MUST install the base modpack first, then the Update pack. And you will find BOTH packs at mission4today.

So: look again at mission4today! You will reach them under the same "Download now" button.
