Looking for Italian aircract used in China
« on: May 17, 2013, 06:29:02 PM »

In particular a CR32 with a Chinese paint job. Right now, I'm using a blank skin with the typical Italian Camo, with Chinese roundals. Plain brown sides and top wings, and light undersides would be much better. An added bonus would be a new Chinese default skin for the unskinable SM_81.

Thanks..

If you are looking for an aircraft profile, a good place to start is at WingsPalette.

And here specifically is their page for the Cr32

The first picture is the one that I was thinking of. What's interesting, is that the Wings website says that there were 16 CR32's and Wiki says that there were only 9.

Of the AC that available in IL2, the following AC were used by the Chinese:
P-26, HawkIII, I-15, I-15bis, I-16, Gamma, Hs-123, DB-3, TB-3, D-510, CR32, Gladiator, P-36, and the SM-81.

AFAIK italian planes selled to foreign nations are delivered in the three tone scheme.

For the most precise indication the BR.20 was delivered in two batch: first batch in 3 tone , last batch of IIRC 9 planes in brown dottled in green.

Not exactly the bible, but close enough.
Lots from IL2

The 10th BS (10th BS 8th BG “Zhongdui” - “Medium Detachment”) flew the Italian three-motor Savoia S.72 transports used as bombers. After being demonstrated in China in 1935 the prototype of the S.72 three-engine plane was handed over to Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek as a gift. Other aircraft were ordered by the Chinese and in part assembled in China. The Nanking Chinese government (=Chiang Kai-Shek government) bought 20 production aircraft with defensive dorsal turret and ventral step machine-gun posts. By the beginning of the Sino-Japanese war there were six S.72s were in shabby condition and were in fact suitable only for transport.
In mid-August 1937 the 8th BG was joined by the 13th Squadron, receiving four SM.81B bombers in Nanchang. 3 of these Savoia SM.81 bombers were built at the Nanchang factory before it had to be moved to a huge natural cave (80m deep) among the mountains south of Chungking. . At least three of them were lost in training accidents in early 1938.
The 8th PS (8th PS 3rd PG) was equipped with approximately 15 Italian Fiat CR.32
15th RS 6th RG was equipped with 9 Fiat Cr32 and 7 Caproni Ca101 recco-bomber
the 7th PS still retained a few Italian Breda Ba.27s
A single captured BR.20 seems to have seen service with the Republic of China Air Force in 1939
Breda28 trainers were also used by the Chinese

On the Japanese side, the 12th and 20th Sentai made use of up to 82 Fiat Br20 (initial order of 72 in 1937, with a supplementary 10 aircraft furnished the following year).

Thanks, this helped a lot.  I already had the Hawk II, Gamma, and Hawk III skins, but the rest are new to me.
