A Night in the Museum with CirX & Vtrelut
« on: February 01, 2010, 12:55:57 PM »

Vincent, aka Vtrelut,  passed through Johannesburg today on his way to Capetown, and I was very happy to come down to the old city and grab him, and take him for a tour of the South African Museum of Military history.

I took some pictures of him on his cellphone, while our official photographer took pictures of us both :D

Because we are form SAS, and thus, we fucking ROCK, we had special permission to go behind the screens and climb into anything we wished.

We counted bulletholes in Wolf's E3

I think Vincent looked particularily dashing in the Hartbees, from the Abbisinian campaign. Yes, this is Vtrelut from Check6, actually checking his 6!  :P

I got happily reunited with Lulu, my first love, Lulu, with whom I spent so much time (or rather, about whom I spent so much time ....in libraries ;) )
I was very happy to get a VERY rare opportunity to tell some of the hidden stories and details of these exhibits, which normaly bore people to death.

...and after showing Vincent that there realy IS NO BAR visible in the cockpit ;D, I thought hard about stealing her...

While Vincent seemed to have developed a crush on Ursula...

Vincent's blackberry has more pix, I hope he will share some. It was a stunning day and filled with great conversation, food and discovery.(And great info about Mirages!)

Salute Vincent (& Wilmarli who followed us around and made us loook cool!!)

News to Vincent: 2 hours after your flight Marica gave birth to a healthy baby girl, so I am also today a proud godfather! :)

Cheers!

Great pics: It seems that the displays are well presented and in good shape!  :)

Is the German 88mm AA/AT gun still there?

Yowsa, looks like you guys had some fun...
I did some flying today of my own - about 10 metres over the front of my bike while attempting, and failing epically, to negotiate some roadworks debris... 8) :D
I'm now probably out of action for a week or 2 with a bruised groin...at least i can get some more IL2 time in while healing.... ;)
Piet, some cool pics man, should've got one of your photo assistant as well. ;)
Yeah, the goatee works - very similar to mine, as well .  8) (elusive pics soon forthcoming :D)

Yea, but with Piet the connection from moustache to the goatee is a very thin line, like a moustache extention :o, maybe a new brand ???
