The 3D modelling is the straight forward part. It's the mapping and importing into game stages which take the real effort. I've pretty much finished the 3D model; i'll cut the control surfaces after i've mapped it so the parts actually line up this time.

Must admit i'm quite pleased with the engine. I thought it'd make a nice change from the "painted on" ones I normally use.

Yes of course, two fixed forward-firing and one flexible rear-firing. Like every Naval Two seater.

Thanks mikoyan99,

that's really an important addition for PTO. Quite neglected by history, had actually a significant role in Pacific war, keep fighting (and scoring) well beyond what could be considered its operational limit.

I discovered it recently, reading Ikuhiko Hata's book about Japanese Naval Air Force. While I thought of it (very little, indeed) so far as an armed recon, it distinguished also as fighter. Between 24 September and 12 October 1942, for instance, three B-17s were claimed by F1M crews (one by ramming). Hata adds:

"Destroyer crews rated the floatplanes more highly than the Zeros at this period, but attrition was high. Eight F1M were lost by 10 October, while at one point none were serviceable at all."

They were used over Miri as air defence against ML-KNIL Glenn Martin bombers during the Japanese invasion before Miri airfield was made operational; unfortunately they were quite effective as fighters in addition to their normal floatplane duties.
