Greetings and salutations,

I love playing IL-2 and the stock missions, however I was looking to spice things up and just have a bit of fun. Preferably with the fastest, most B.A. aircraft that some genius has been able to mod into the game. I see posts about a MiG-21 and F-4 Phantom II, but is there anything more modern available?

What is the best aircraft currently available for download? If you would be kind enough to provide a link to said aircraft, that would be most excellent. My primary area of focus would be a fighter or interceptor.

it's really hard to answer this type of question....best will mean something different to everyone.
best what? ww1? ww2? Korea? Vietnam?  Jet? Prop?
you'll need to be specific about what you want.
my personal best planes would be the Hurricane and the P-40, but that's my personal preference, and most certainly not what you're looking for, lol.
Bravo has a point, though, if you're after the best modern jets, then this isn't the best sim for them.
yes, we have some great jets available - MiG-21's, Phantoms and many more, but this is first and foremost a ww2 sim, and will always be lacking in some of the modern features.
anyway, it might be easiest for you to simply look in the aircraft section, and decide what is 'best' to you.

and what made up jet are you talking about? here the poster is asking for some specifics, links, etc, and you go recommending 'that made up jet which begins with A....'
could you try and be a bit more vague, please, kaxii.. .... for someone who calls himself a news editor, your info is lacking in any real data......

I understand "best aircraft" was a bit too vague, my mistake. I should of just stuck with the "modern" adjective.

This "A jet" intrigues me, however. I went through all the jet postings in the mod section and couldn't find what you were referring to, unless you're just yanking my chain. In any event, am I correct in concluding that the MiG-21 mod is as modern as it gets for this simulator?

Download everyone and make a test. Honestly, I think this is the only way to find out what of them you prefer. BTW, can be more than one...

That might make sense if I asked you guys to tell me which aircraft I would most enjoy flying, but that's not what I asked. Granted, "best" was in one sentence, but the context was fairly clear. Not to mention the first two words of this thread's title are, "Most Advanced". 

Sorry if I seem obstinate, but "figure it out yourself" isn't very helpful. I did post this in the newbie forum, after all.

Hilarious Jet Man mod aside, is anyone aware of a more advanced aircraft available to fly in IL-2 1946 than the MiG-21? I defer to those with greater knowledge than I, of both aircraft history, and the modding community at large.
