As requested...

Actually the Horten Ho 229 "V3" was found intact and practically finished in a hangar un-painted and its wings not attached to the main body.
 It was then taken to the UK for a short time to test and see if it could use Allied jet engines, but these were not suitable for the Horten.
So it was packed up and shipped to the USA.
While in the USA, it was painted by someone and mounted up for public display of captured WW2 German weapons for a few days (near Chicago, I believe).
Then it was taken apart once more and put into storage in a hangar at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's - Paul E. Garber Restoration
Facility in Suitland, Maryland... left to rot !
Now since 2011,  it is undergoing a full restoration at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, at the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar
in Chantilly, Virginia.

This is what it would look like completely restored and painted in its original colors, and markings. (if it were to fly)
