tom
I have all the objects and all the maps ever made plus updates in all my installs of il2. This map is the only one that will not load at all period. How about a list of objects you have used something is wrong at your end somewhere.

Ok fellows:

I can only say this map works in my install from 4.09m to DBW 1.71 to Mod Act 5.2 and apart the stock Darwin objects and the airfield which Boomer used in the base map I cannot see any reason why this map would not load.

As for Quicks, yes, there I used some objects as listed, but again, these should not spoil a load.

WHAT I found is this map requires quite some power in texture to RAM as it seems. .

I recommend the following:
Make sure you inserted all needed textures including trees and the Clouds267.tga.

That makes 2 texture folders, trees and the cloudfile exactly as in the download order.

Then:
Open FMB and, if possible, hit shift + tab and make a screen. Post that screen please

For further notes on how to get all objects needed, please read here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,35419.48.html
Code: [Select]
As for getting all my maps:

I followed this forum's tips closely:
Went to my DBW 1.71 install:
Copied the entire maps folder over inside the #SAS\MapMods folder.
#SAS\MAPMODS\MAPS

Then...from UP~Boomer's post:
# 10
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,35419.0.html

Used his UP3 static ini file and copied the 4.12 static entries in as advised.
Backed the static.ini file up and copied the new static ini in #SAS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects.

After this took the 4SFS UP3 object files as per Boomer's linked post into "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\SFS_AUTO".

up_objects01.sfs
up_objects02.sfs
up_objects03.sfs
up_objects04.sfs

Finally, opened my DBW install again and copied and pasted the following files as well into the
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\SFS_AUTO:

up_maps01.sfs
up_maps02.sfs
up_maps03.sfs
up_maps04.sfs
up_maps05.sfs

up_textures01.sfs
up_textures02.sfs

updbw_mapex_01.sfs
updbw_mapex_02.sfs
updbw_mapex_03.sfs
updbw_mapex_04.sfs
updbw_mapex_05.sfs
updbw_mapex_06.sfs
updbw_mapex_07.sfs
updbw_mapex_08.sfs

Done. :-*

Tom

Sorry, I gave up trying to find out why some chaps cannot fly this map.
Ran all sorts of tests with version 4 and in my install, no issue.
Also for 4.12, will only work when you follow the tips above in the link, I did that right away before installing.

All who cannot use this map, try inserting this file (unzipped) right into MapMods\Maps\_Tex

https://www.mediafire.com/#myfiles

That will not be the issue most likely, but trying cannot harm.

It boils down to someone finding a method to identify all objects used here...

Simple rule of thumb for me-if it runs in DBW it is good to go.
Will post if I find the solution.

Tried the last version again in DBW.

Re: Reno map V2 V4.2fin
« Reply #51 on: November 12, 2013, 03:41:09 PM »

Version V4.2 all in one link.

I added new Quicks, especially some for 4.12.2.
These are not perfect as the AI tends to do funky stuff while taxiing, so this are mostly for player fun and MP possibly. Also added some new Quick stuff like one mission (RenoRedStrike00), where you can take off on the smaller takeoff lane and here it shows the AI, especially jets like Sabres, tend to crash.
If you want to be on the safe side, choose props for AI and keep exactly the taxiing order, e.g. if you roll the 1st minute on autopilot, you know the drift.

Also included the stuff previously extra added.

New readme, hope you like the stuff, textures etc the same. Deleted the annoying floating lights aka light objects on the new missions.

Quick readme included. If you have issues, best thing you can do is take a screen after loading the map and hitting left shift + tab.

..if the game freezes completely (happened to me while re-installing ModAct 5.3) you may miss static ini entries. Added one extra file for textures, just to make sure.
If you cannot run this map, I apologize and kindly advise to check the link in the readme aka the SAS thread with tips by Boomer and other chaps. Texture wise all in and objects should all be available with UP 3.0 objects and the accompainying entries.

Some maps are just tricky for reasons hard to find out as non object pro or apart usual logic, e.g. hardware settings, seen that before.

New Quicks

This is an extra option really only if you hate both the default V4.2 lake altitudes or the V4 lake altitudes which are as option also in V4.2/V4.2fin.

I do not use this btw.

Some shots including some of the stuff the AI does if you use time accel lol..

New version.
Again one reddish, one less saturated in one map aka two in one.
You basically need all objects in DBW, then you're good to go, or simply Boomer's objects from M4Today.

This is optional.
Not necessarily better, but with more details of landscape variation. And some recolours on a few tex.
THIS version requires you to run on Open GL aka Hardwareshaders=1.

I am not 100% satisfied, for that reason I also contained all the previous released map files in the 1st download's optional folder-see post #52.
Named there "Previous good! version Reno", you can insert all the files in that folder into your Reno map folder to get the best of the previous version.

In any case the core of this mod are the Quick Missions.
These are posted here, in the last post of the Reno map thread and also in the Missions section of SAS.

All in all it is a nice map, not more and not less.  Fly around 16.00-18.00! Best light in IL-2.
For a kickass map, visit my Sidi Ifni mapmod for agracier's Sidi Ifni. By far my favourite mod. (lol)

PS
If you use the version from #53, this is a stand alone map, in that case delete the following folder(s) before installing:
MAPMODS/MAPS/_Tex/Renoag
and

MAPMODS/MAPS/_Tex/Renoag1

hello Thorsten!

finally found my error, why I could not load the Reno_Red version...
it was the high res Spain_Cuba thingie in 4MB size that was missing its corresponding 4MB Bumb_H file :)
this one needs to be activated in order to make the map loadable :)

minor error on my side but took me 45mins to find that one out today;
but, now everything works as it should :)

it is quite easy to install :)
i downloaded from the last two links that Thorsten has supplied and then unzipped -Reno-, followed by the slightly ugly Fallon stuff;
you can install them like any other map, just make sure that, if you use the high res Spain_Cuba texture (the one with 4MB), you also need to use the bump_h file that is 4MB size;
the Spain_1024_Cuba_fields_16.tga that is 4097kb in sized needs the Spain_1024_Cuba_fields_16.bumpH file that is 4097kb in size activated;
alternatively, you can try and rem out both bumpH files that are named like this, but I do not recommend that;
after I had both those 4097kb files activated, renored works :)
the normal reno map never gave any trouble at all...

Yes, dunno if I mentioned it, I think I did in the readme:
The Hi Res files need their repsective Hi Res Bumps, made two versions for each, hi res and normal res.

Cheers

hello Thorsten!

unfortunately, you did not mention that in the readme :)
not in the readme files that come with the last two versions you have posted :)

well, but reading the crash log pointed me into the right direction and now I have learned a new thing as well :)
