Realistic Lights v1.5
« on: February 14, 2010, 12:03:20 AM »

A new version of this old mod ;D
I will show Abigor's screenshots because they are awesome, if you don't care mate: :)

Features:
It changes the appearance of landing lights, navigation lights and runway lights in IL-2.
Independent textures from tracers.

Old optional effect for fun updated:
A better and almost perfect Flashing light on all three navi lights.
Now you do not lose your navi light if you enable the flashing light at it.

The flashing light effect you can see in this video made by Abigor:

A beautiful video, don't you think? :o

This is old but is not outdated, hehe: :P
I know the flashing light effect is not historically accurate, it's only for fun. So, please, don't write something like "this is not historical". ;)

Download:
https://www.mediafire.com/?j15z6p1m8r3zjuz

Installation:
Extract the content to your mods folder (#SAS, #UP#, #DBW, MODS).

If you want the flashing lights, just remove the dash from desired folder. Each folder for each flashing light.

You need to change in your technics.ini file from:
Code: [Select]
Smoke12:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhite.eff
Smoke13:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke13:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareRed.eff
Smoke14:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke14:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareGreen.eff
Smoke15:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke15:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhiteWide.eff

To:
Code: [Select]
Smoke12:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhiteStatic.eff
Smoke13:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke13:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareRedStatic.eff
Smoke14:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke14:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareGreenStatic.eff
Smoke15:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke15:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhiteWideStatic.eff
This change makes the static lights independent from the aircraft lights.
So the static lights will not blink and have their proper values of size and range.

Enjoy! :D

Awesome screenshots and video by Abigor. ;)

Thank you. I liked your nuke effect very much, and this looks awsome, I'll have to try.

BTW, my grandfather was an aircraft mechanic in WWII and slightly postwar, and he has a story about the switch to anti-collision strobe lights from steady white nav lights. So, they may be accurate after all for later time periods. :)

Thank you, guys.
I am glad you liked this one. ;D
If some one can explain how to compile class files, I think we could have a realistic effect like the sun or searchlights. ;)

boogabooga:
That is great news. Thanks for share that information with us. :o :D

Do you think you could also add extra lights as stationary objects in blue, yellow, etc. colors? That would be great!

I love this mod! This was an issue long overdue and you solved it. 8)

A beautiful but doubt me Mods plagues, I tried the flash version and gives me this problem only affects me or my PC does not support this version?
That's when the flash of light, runs a black square as the operation will appear and disappear along with it. ::)
version I use is the mod UP_20.

That might be a video card or video card driver issue.  I get a black square surrounding aircraft lights when they are first drawn in FSX.  I'm using an Nvidia 8800GT with the 182.50 driver.  I have not yet tried this mod in Il2.
