Now that looks more like an Island airfield from WW2 photos. Very cool artsy work Bombsaway  8)
The different colored textures of gravel, sand and coral stone makes this an ideal looking and very
realistic runaway for the PTO islands. Much better than those square lifeless block runways of the old game.

Perhaps on some islands you will want to include your cool looking steel-platting runways. Those were also
used a lot by the See-Bees in constructing island runways.

Thanks for the kind words Max. Truk was never taken over by the Alies so I cant use the metal plates. I had to use the concrete which still look very tiled but I cant find a better plate for concrete. With Il2 there are just some limitations that we have to live with :(   I had to cover most of the area because of the runway, taxi and parking points. I'm not that good with making those so I left them as they were.

Anyway here are some pics.....

Any suggestions for a better concrete plate would be great.

Looks like I need to go back and rework the plates so the lines match up. :)

Painting the airfield straight onto a texture works really well too.  Then the invisible airfield plates can be used to smooth the surface.  If you use Carsmaster's 2048x mod, you can use larger size textures with the ,-2 in the load.ini to get great coverage with no loss of detail. Takes a bit longer though!

I have never done that. I'm not real good at paintshop. Wish I was. :) Is this better than the other?

Great airfield. :)
Like said, wish my old Truk project wouldn't have sank in my Fmb lol.  >:( That's why I rather not say more, it was the most frustrating map thing that happened to me. FMB+ needs a "reset last action" knob.
Will use my Tree Quicks with your mod..Will surely be a fun map. :D

I will fly it and make a 2nd map install for this map so I can fly both my old unfinished version and yours along with my Quick. :)
I'm sure it will be total fun to have two versions and also I love the area.

Editing map_c can get the shallows closer to real life but that too can take a long time to get it right. :)

Affirm, I actually delayed that back then since I knew it would be a pain of constantly messing with RGB 20-100. ;)
You do that good for sure.
PS:
Maybe you are interested in either SAS~Boomer's new high res palm trees or SAS~farang65's new jungle trees for random trees. These also add a lot. I can send you the links later if you wish.
