Advanced Air Striking Force (updated campaign)
« on: February 16, 2014, 09:06:07 AM »

It was first item of Encyclopedia of Aviation I collected in 1970’s. Now I got a chance to revive in a simulator those fights, in a sort of tribute to those men who actually lived them. And, as usual, now I share this work with Il-2 community. I hope you’ll enjoy. Player will be part of RAF No.1 Squadron, flying Hurricane Mk.I; he will flank French allies in their desperate defense of France. I used a single map, so events really happened eastwards, are represented in Normandy, where Germans actually spent only a few days on June 1940 to go from Le Havre to Cherbourg. I was also inspired by previous works by Compans and Vtrelut, this latter remaining the unparalleled master of DGen campaigns.

This campaign is for UP2.01 and 4.09m. It features a more historical inventory of planes, including Fairey Battle, early versions of Bf 109E, French DB-7 and Hawk-75A2 (all included in UP2.01).

Added French career.

Player will fly Curtiss Hawk 75A-2 for Groupe de Chasse I/4 (Spa 95, Spa 153), actually having in strength, on 10 May 1940, 27
H75A, based at Wez Thuisy, close to Reims, approximately 250 km East of Le Havre. Unfortunately, Il-2 is not made to cope with a French campaign in the West; as a consequence, I was forced to make some compromises, since French secondary flights of
fighters are often British and friendly bombers are given American nationality! So I forced both them to dress a French livery, but player still will hear them speaking on the radio in their own idioms.  :(

Link for download same as above.

Have fun!

Thank you very much, Rebel ! ;)

You are welcome!

I'm fascinated by Armée de l'Air and its planes. Also love your speaking (it is like a music) and colorful expression in game (like: "numéro quatre, tu est foutu, saute!"). ;D

I plan to build a dedicated campaign just for "Bataille de France", including this time Leo 451, MB152 and D520. Of course, for 4.09! ;)

Hi rebels!

This campaign has been updated to version 2.2.

Removed Potez 631 (original concept of this campaign was to have it playable only with UP2.01, without need to add any extra plane). Revised Hurricane livery; I applied the scheme in use on campaign start (May 10, 1940), that’s to say “split White & Black scheme applied to the complete wing undersides (including the ailerons) while the fuselage remained aluminum for Squadron 1's, 60's & 67's Hurricane during the Battle of France.” (Actually, I gave same scheme to the 73’s Hurricane).

In addition, I replaced Hurricane Mk.I with the +12 lbs. version since I thought this variant more realistic.

Same link as in first post.

Enjoy!
