Do you think I Will be able to install my old payware campaigns over CMF?  I have a load of them such as the desastersoft campaigns and the wings over series and a few more. I know they are old but it would be good to fly these in CFM

Cheers

Hey guys.

Sorry to hijack this thread- but it is because I am rising to Monty's challenge of building a FMB campaign to run in CFM.
You guys here should also be among the more proficient builders within 4.12;)

Should anyone know the answer to this, feel free to PM me, as to not waste space here.

My grief however is as follows:

I want to make a mission with a full, 12 aircraft squadron taking off, forming up and flying together through a series of waypoints.
I know how to make 3 flight of 4- belonging to the same squad and giving me command. I also understand that I need to make
duplicate waypoints for each of the flights. Alas, they will not fly in formation, only parallel, which I turn creates issues. (If I turn, flight 2 and 3 wont follow, they will proceed along the waypoints.

BUT:

If the squadron is carrying BOMBS (Ex. A spitfire mk IX with bombs), and I set MY FLIGHT as the TARGET for my two follow flights along each waypoint- they will fall into a perfect squadron formation. I can provide screens if you'd like. They will follow me as a squad and I will have full command though comms.

However, if they are NOT carrying bombs, making me their TARGET, they will zig- zag at altitude and "escort" me, rather than falling in.

Am I missing something here? I notice when I play DGEN camps, I often lead 2 flights of 4, all following me in formation, so it must be possible right?

Any help in solving this would be greatly appriciated. Sorry again for the hijack- look forward to 4.12

If any if you could help me with this- I will make a 10 mission Spit IX campaign based upon North Weald Wing with high standard for you chaps to enjoy. I have ome experience making missions, but this problem still baffles me. Why have I never seen anyone else requesting this after all these years lurking in the forums?:P

All the best chaps.

Monty,

Thank you for the response about the Beaufighters - again a great improvement beyond what we had any right to expect.

As we all know, another bird with a similar rear-view issue is the Me 210/410 (and in a related way, the Arado 234). Dare I hope that these have been cured as well?

From the edge of my seat, all the best!

 ;)

Insanely impressive and useful program. But the clone flights still do not follow my lead (although they do take orders from comms). Sent you a PM creature.

Nothing like throwing in a last minute suggestion, but I've been traveling for the last several weeks and didn't have an internet connection I trusted.  Here's what I hope got included in CFM (or could be added to CFM).

Do the Early Mustangs include Greybeards FM correction for the Mustang MkI & MKIA?

The "Early Mustangs", which includes the P-51-1 (Mustang MkI/MkIA) and the P-51A (Mustang MkII).  However, both planes, the Mustang MkI/MkIA  and the P-51A, seem to have the same FM with the only difference being the Armament and external loads.  I believe it would be good to get the Mustang MkI/MkIA FM revised (lowered) to give it a more accurate performance envelope.

The new FM is available at Greybeard’s website using the URL below:

Thanks for the heads up tooslow.  I appreciate suggestions and info as my personal workload and responsibility for CFM is quite high and just can't get to everything at the same time.  Bit late for me to complain though!

Nothing is set in stone but SFS finalising is in progress atm.  Any addition to the SFS packages would, in any case, require extensive testing in un-compressd format - Especially as these FM and classfiles are flagged for 409 and not 412.

Once tested in 412 the new FM can be included in the first CFM Expansion (there will be a number of these).

Thanks for the reply and info Monty.

I've tested Greybeard's new FMs in my fully expanded TFM-412 (through pack #38) and they work perfectly on my system.  I tested the new FMs in both the QMB and the FMB.   Hope to see it added later.

Thanks for doing this wonderful addition to IL2.   I've really appreciated your efforts, while I'm sure I've only used a small amount of the full TFM potential, almost everything has worked great!!!   I'm really looking forward to CFM and I know it will be worth the wait ...

Thanks again ... tooslow!

I don't know but you can easily verify and test that yourself.  CFM is built on top of 412.  So if it works in 412, it will work in 412 + CFM.

With regard to old campaigns, DGen or utilities from earlier versions, you can test anything in 412 right now.  CFM doesn't break or remove anything from 412, it adds more, tons more.  So test it in 412, if OK it will be fine for 412 + CFM.

What I can't do is magically retro-patch every previous addon and campaign.  New missions will have to be made for 412.  If you want 412, that's just a fact of life.  The TD412 patch adds many great new features and leaves 409/410/411 behind in the process.  Some stuff will still work, anyone can test that in vanilla 412, CFM will just add more stuff that we know works and a great deal more that only works in 412.

On a related subject, having studied available information on TD413, CFM will be ready for it.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, some of DCG was working with 412. Well the default ones were mostly working.

Great news on TD413. Awesome to know.

As soon as CFM is ready to DL I will be playing with DCG to see how it goes. I am excited.
