Navalized Russian aircraft, U2, I153, I16, Il-2
« on: April 07, 2014, 08:08:08 AM »

I know a navalized yak has been made on here before, but got to thinking war aircraft would the Russians have made for a carrier if they had one in 39 or early 40s? I came up with navy versions of a couple il-2s, i16 and 153 and the U2....I will draw up some concepts and post soon with further details

How so? This is a request for these to be made in game, my first post was so short as I had to get back to work for a bit...

Anyway some rough ideas for these aircraft:
Il-2 early version single seat
Based off of the Il-2m, more powerful engine (need to look up), Grumman style folding wings, up to 6x rocket racks on wings, retains Mgs and 20mm cannon, slightly larger wing span

Later version has rear gunner, less armor between pilot and gunner, same features as above otherwise, truncated to 4x rocket rails, both can carry as heavy as 1x torpedo or 2xfab250s, further weapon load outs to follow in later post or edit

U2
No significant changes apart from addition of arresting gear, perhaps more powerful engine, possible folding wings along lines of swordfish

I-153
Addition of arresting gear, possible wing folding like swordfish, based on 'P' version

I-16
Based on type 24 version, folds wings vertically

I will draw up concepts of all types here soon and post

I-153 is done by me already just not released

I am doing the La -11 and La-9 and Lagg -3 for a user I can do a il2 type if you want one.

They will not have folding wings or any other 3D changes apart from a tail hook.

if Yes I will add to the pack I was doing for the user and will release by the weekend I hope

Oh ok cool, I was thinking the il-2 2 series and il2m later series for my testing, did a large test for several aircraft on illustrious, Essex, and Lexington carriers, was actually surprised by some of the results and found the i185 wouldn't make a bad carrier plane either

Odd thing I found with my tests with the i15 is that it can take off from a stationary carrier, but moving it nose dives into the deck O.o

yea that happens sometimes with me I pull on my stick up just slightly to stop it going level. As with The Radge request for Russian planes I have done the La-7 just got the lagg-3 and la-9, I have also done a il2 carrier but problem with weapons at the moment.

By the way, may be to add some droptanks for Il-2? Its range is too short...
