You know the problem; the pee-yellow lighting on your plane when firing guns. I've looked high and low. I need just that fix, or a pack from which it can be taken. If a classfile (or more than one??) is required, and is included with other classfiles, it must be identified so that I can select just it (or them.)

Thanks!

Do you mean this (reflection)?

or this (flash):

at any rate, both are from Steppenwolf's effects mod for 4.09 that you find here:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=35360.0

I think you can peruse the mod content or contact the author.

Good luck!

Iirc the yellow reflection was removed in 4.10 by TD, it was a stock feature. Or at least I dont have it in DBW so it must have been removed by someone.

Thanks, Greybeard! And it's the awful illumination of the aircraft body which I must be rid of. I already have muzzle flash mods.

I figured this must have been addressed in a later version.

Incidentally, anything which adjusts the muzzle smoke from 12.7mm and larger guns? When stationary (as for AAA, and for a/c sitting on the ground or even at very low speed of a hammerhead turn), this smoke is a comical cone-shape (a comical conical, he he), with a butt-ugly 'dusty rose' color. Ugh! But the really annoying thing about this is how the stuff  balloons up and obscures the view (for cowl-mounted guns) when I'm firing at very low speed. The high opacity and dense 'dusty rose' color is just horrible. I want it fixed. In the meantime I'll scrutinize Steppenwolf's pack for this...

And thanks again, folks!

As I feared, in Steppenwolf's pack there is a great raft of classfiles. I put the MGun_Classes folder in my MODS and tried to load a track. It failed due to an effect file not present.

I'd prefer to surgically extract what I require, and not install the entire pack. I have many of my own tweaked effects that many tens of hours were expended upon. I'll prevail upon Steppenwolf in the relevant thread to see if guidance can be provided.

If only there were a database explaining the purpose of every classfile. And indicating any dependencies...

Dude, you seem to be from another planet! (In a good way) :)

I think all of us would have laugh in the face of Oleg when he presented this as "the most realistic combat simulator ever created", instead we were just dazzled by those "pyrotechnics" effects.

The only one I've seen so far issuing detailed lists of the meaning of "class files" is Epervier, the rest of us prefer uploading on a volatile website (which tries in every way to penetrate the safety of our PC when we download) files sometimes also lacking indication for installation. :D

At any rate, I would recommend you trying to contact directly Steppenwolf since he demonstrated to be both competent and helpful.

Wx, you might also find some useful info and tips in this section - https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?board=202.0

many effects mods and so on are discussed here, and it might be a good place to ask for more help... ;)

yes, you could open that mod up and check what changes are made, then you'd have to apply a similar change to each aircraft, i think.
as mentioned, this problem has been solved with an official patch, so i think it is only an issue for older versions - 409, maybe 410...

I use the Breda Safat gunmod; it never occurred to me to check out if the yellow pall has indeed been reduced.

Any who, this is all done in classfiles, which is utterly beyond my ken. What I need, then, are gun classfiles for the remainders.

there are many gun-flash effects mod available, and they don't all use classfiles.
even if they do, you can quite often just use their effect files, disable/remove the classfiles, and you sometimes still can get the results you want. ;)
