I don't want this to be a 'gimme gimme gimme' request but is it possible to add the wing tanks that are often seen on C130s?

Hello ZtheE Studios, as it stands from what I can see the new 3d did not come with those fuel tanks, unfortunately while I could make some I would need drawings and more problematical a part of the existing texture to map them to. (Note: actually there does appear to be an area on the texture that has what I suppose is that tank or the refuelling one, not sure.)At the moment though illness and other commitments, an 'introduction to coding course', do not allow me to devote any more time to this project so in the next few hours/days I am hoping me and Alex can finalise the final integration of what we have so far nothing more, that said we do have one more addition of one more variant.

Note 2:Maybe the refuelling pod could be re-mapped to a new area and renamed.

There are a lot of things that need attention in the java but I am not clever enough, I managed to borrow some from the other releases to make the doors and ramps work but beyond that we need to consider this pack much like the original in it gives some additional stuff as eye candy and with a few functions but it needs lots of work to bring it up to the standard of the other releses, I will post a link to the java so far to let anyone with a interest to add new functions. The wheels on this tuck up in a different way to the others so as it is we could provide the stationary with visible wheels but again it is something one day I would like to fix but not now.

If you have the Stainless tool you can see the undercarriage retraction for each version and it shows what we think was the issue concerning the stationary not showing its wheels:

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello Pete. I made a quick test skin, the section is for the refueling pod.

Mapping the tank to the refueling pod might work best as searching up skins to make it appears that the wing tank and refueling pod always match the livery.
I cannot say much with coding this in because I am Java-illiterate...

I must say thank you for both you and Bison's hard work with this pack, it is coming along quite nicely  :D

Hello again ZtheE Studios, from what I had seen when I used the KC-130 the pods did appear to be painted to match
the skin so I assumed they were, however, when I had loaded the KC-130 I mainly had all grey skins on them as that
is what Alex had provided for the default so never paid any attention to it until you asked.  What you say is correct
those pods are mapped to that area but here you see a issue with the camouflaged RAF aircraft and it is the same for
the South East Asia scheme:

Until your request I had not opened the mesh up but I did to see what I could do and decided with removal of the fuel
filler it would most likely do as it seemed to be roughly the right size compared to photographs of real aircraft that were
carrying those inner wing tanks.

Anyway, when I took the mesh into gmax and opened it to see the mapping I could see the reason for the odd pattern
for the RAF pods, the pod is broken down into four sides:

If I close in further you get a better idea:

And further out you see another area:

Before I looked at this I sort of assumed maybe the tank had been mapped from the profile view
where you just map one side and essentially capture the whole shape both sides like here:

The reason for that was that when I did look at the texture that is what it seemed to indicate but
on opening it it was not the case although it had been positioned over that area as you say.

Another issue was the size, I thought maybe Alex had enlarged what I thought was the Skyraider pod
because the size looked right on the Hercules, I asked last night in a mail but he has not got back yet.

Downside is the size as it does not match the fuel tank area on the texture but I could maybe enlarge
the mapping and if possible move the pylon part of the map.  I would have to experiment. :D

So, it does look like we have that Skyraider pod question is what to do.

I can remove the fuel filler nozzle, that is easy enough to do.  As for mapping, well I could either integrate
the mapped areas I have into one, however, if they do not match exactly that could cause further ugly
outcomes as we see on the RAF aircraft or I can just do as described above which is map the pod right
through on the face that matches the area painted on the texture, that would mean you get a duplicated
pattern on the opposite side, it might not look perfect on some textures but at least it would save those
who skinned this already needing to colour new areas for the tanks.

As for java for it, yes, if it is to work as a fuel tank then it needs to be added to the arms folder and would also
need to be added using the armament options also set up in the java so you could have it on or off depending
on what you wished so some alterations there and it would need to be created first as a tank.

The alternative is just add it in the hier but it would be strictly eye candy, does anyone fly this thing so far that
they actually need extra fuel tanks?

As I said in the earlier post the pack still needs a lot of things adding but right now I cannot devote more time to it
other than maybe convert the pod, then I have to prioritise other things. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

You need all the Skin of the C-130 to other Countries Skins.

In that Case, Well done.

Hello KingTiger503, this is the modified fuel pod that I think originated in the Skyraider.

The refuel nozzle has been removed and I just mapped it side on into the area where the current texture is painted:

Hopefully I kept it within a area that will not show any of the textures background but I will ned to test.

The same could be done for the refuelling pod as well that way all will have this uniform colouring all around, I
will have to look through what textures I have and try to make sure my poitioning is good enough for all existing
textures in use that I have, or at least as near as is possible . ;)

Doing it this way means that if this is cloned and used across the aircraft the same scheme will be evident on all
but that is how it is now anyway, if I were to make one myself anew then I would do a port and starboard but in
this instance we are only trying to improve what we already have.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello again guys, so for those of you with a fuel tank fetish. ;)

The refuel pod and the new fuel pod are now mapped:

Alex mentioned another tank he found so it could be that or this but the other would need the same treatment.

Anyway, here we see the new mapped refuel pod (port) with the old (starboard, you can see the difference:

I have not actually tested the refuel system so not sure if it works or not, I cannot remember if it did in the old
franken pack.  As mentioned earlier I could use the java made by Western and Vega from their update as whatever
was in the old franken will by now have been superseded by their update.

For those who feel their Hercules is naked without them, the new pods inboard as seems to be the norm in
photographs but they are purely visual and do not work that is something for another time:

A closer view with them adjusted down a little:

And finally that annoying gap where the wheel doors hinge:

I had to alter the CF_D0 for that fix so I now need to change each one out carefully making sure to retain
the hooks for each version.

Once sorted I will send these to Alex so he can take a look, we will see what happens then.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

A little about the prospects.
Modernization of existing AC-130 (real bofors and interior):

Adding AC-130H and AC-130U:

And finally, a special offer from Lockheed Martin - EC-130V:

Best wishes

Hello again guys, Alex sent me another update yesterday and my alterations were added to that and returned so it is in his hands for now. ;)

You have already seen the mesh changes but to that I actually added the KC java from the Vega/Western pack and needed to
alter some of our existing hier entries for that, I cannot guarantee it works as it should but as has been mentioned this will be
on-going.

Here we see the drogues release above a certain hight:

This is what you see in the load screen, those hoses will not appear once the aircraft is on the tarmac:

It is so long since I worked in the FMB that I don't have any kind of refuelling missions available to test if the
above stuff works as it should so you guys will need to do that when Alex uploads it.

Downside is the stationary has deployed refuelling hoses, there might be a way to alter that but I am so long out
of doing this stuff that I know not how.  It might be that alterations to the hier are not quite right and as you
know I was never any kind of java Guru so it is what it is for now hopefully at a later date I might be able to fix things.

For now maybe throw a maintenance crew around the aircraft to look as though they are doing a scheduled
maintenance task on it. :D

I have the mesh from Alex he found as a substitute for the tanks I showed so I will try and map them as per the others
to give him a choice, however for now that is all I can do for this project.

I will send a link to the java to Alex so he can post it in the first page for anyone who is able to improve on what we have
so far going forward.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
