I love the F4.
Finally i can takeoff from carrier but still didnt been able to land.

Ictaually the main problem is that if i set up for landing with full flaps, 140/150 kn i have no chance to see the carrier deck cause of my head position in the cocpit. I rise my POV all up, but it doest help...Is there a way to rise my Point of View more?

P.S. Even if i did all proper steps and i have all working good i still have overheating problems ;)

so, no-one have any suggestions/advice as to how i can get my Phantoms safely over mach 1 without disintegrating in a ball of flame...?
even though i'm not a huge jet fan, the Phantom happens to be my favorite jet, and when i do get the urge to fly jets, it's normally my first choice.

That was an issue with earlier versions of the Engine Mod mate. I highly recommend to fly Mig-21s anyway, the FMs are much closer to realistic, ask Bravo. ;)
F-4s in 4.12= absolute fubar.

Thorsten, read through some of my previous (and later) threads, mate - i mentioned twice that i have double and triple-checked that i have the latest Engine Mod, plus western's latest patch.
i specifically checked all this again, due to testing some even newer featured betas that aren't even released yet, and those work just fine.
i also mention that the Phantoms worked fine initially, and since then i have made zip/zero/nada changes to Engine Mod, but they now explode at mach 1, which i can only suspect has something to do with a wrong FM, maybe - but even there, i have tried every different FM available (Vega/Paulus, etc) and no difference - 1000km/h + = ka-boom!
MiG-21's are cool, but i hugely prefer flying a Phantom, as it is my favorite jet.
no working Phantoms = i stick to my trusty prop planes, thanks :D

Eugene, a very belated reply and sorry. :P

I already assumed what you said and was simply to darn lazy to read the thread again. :o
As for Migs, I thought the same, really, always, until I learned to test and fly the Mig-21s-the 2nd Gen ones.

Man are they well crafted for a segment that does not fit IL-2..at all. :P
Then I read some more about them and do date I think as a pure dogfighter, they were highly better than F-4s, what made the difference in the later Vietnam conflict IIRC (e.g.) was the pilots.

Then again I can see your point, design wise-apart the PF /FL models and the early '21s, F4s, and especially my beloved F-5s and F-104s look classes better and are from a place where it is reasonable to fly them low and fast in a Western US desert theatre (something I hope to get going as WIP some time in the universe).

Cheers, carry on lads, +1, carrier ops rule.

F-4s were one of my first known jets as a kid when I learned to read, I read about F-4s and F-104s hehe.

And What about the little old folder named " 00_F-4_weapon " ( needed for old version and which is also in TFM 412 )?
Should it be used with v 1.40 or removed , please ?

The folder "00_F-4_weapon" is not used in 1.40.

As I learned how to land, this plane is unexpectedly somehow cool... it outturns the 21 in dogfight!! :D 8)

Hi juldebmt,

the missiles code was included in the SAS Engine Mod, which is different for each game version 4.10, 4.11 and 4.12. Since this aircraft use missiles code that suit specifically for 4.12 it could not work properly in 4.10. I don't know about Western but working backward and implementing old code is something that I would not do. So maybe you could considering upgrading your game?

If you afraid missing out all the stuffs that you have with your DBW, we do have DBW comming up for 4.12:

Or you can try this awesome pack as well:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,40015.msg447298.html#msg447298

Notice that many future awesome mod will be heavily based on 4.12 game version and there is 4.13 about to be release, so moving forward is a good choice  ;).

Cheers,

S3

A bit of an oddity in my controls? Missiles work fine with all my other a/c, but although I have the tone and launch authorisation with the F4 nothing I try in the way of launch keys gets a missile off the rail. All my updates are in line with the installation instructions. Anyone else have this problem?
