I desperatly wanted to do a pacific-Island map. Sadly most of them are already mapped. However, I found out that the small island of Nauru played some role during WW-2.

This shouldn't cause any problems this time, it has no custom textures. Installation guide in the readme.

Enjoy!

Interesting, never heard of it! Many thanks! :)

Many areas from the Pacific are really forgotten! I notice it, the more I am deal with that area for my campaigns!
Found recently a new area:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minami-dait%C5%8D
Had an airfield and some other military installations during WWII!
Dont know, if its already made, but I think not . . .

Edit:
Here are also some good first infos about combat areas:

Hey Batbomb,

Nauru is a nice add. It was the original target for Operation Kourbash , the Army partner for the USMC 2nd Division's
Operation Galvanic (Assault on Tarawa)  in Nov 1943. The assault on it (Nauru)  was switched to Makin Island when the planners decided the defences were too heavy on Nauru , and its geographical structure ( basically a gradual shallow hill stationed with artillery that could cover the perimeter due to the elevation difference ( Morison likens it to a hat with a brim , the airfield being on the brim and the guns being situated on the dome.

I had hoped that someone would apply all the northern Gilbert Islands on one large map , and then cheat the geography (between Nauru and Makin/Tarawa) to just include Nauru on the western edge. This would be excellent for online campaign purposes (I know , not the Mandate of SAS - it doesn't mean SAS folks wouldn't appreciate it).
The Tarawa map always bugged me because it implies that Tarawa was an isolated atoll , which was not entirely the case.

Cheers,

Once I finish my Marshalls map, that was going to be my next mapping project if I start one. The stock Tarawa is terrible and needs to be redone.

Great to Hear , Dave,

It would truly be an excellent map - Tarawa , Makin and Nauru all included. Superb for campaigners and interesting for offliners as well! I hope you find the time to do it.

Thats a cool Island, thank you Batbomb! I like it.

There are still many old maps and islands that need better textures and shallow water effects for them to be more
realistic. Unfortunatelly many of them are still left to continue being ugly. No one will ever be interested
in using them without some new skins.
