Vehicle slot:  Pete Shaw aka Mission_bug.


Technical help in creating the slot was very kindly provide by: western0221 and Epervier.


This was created for TD 4.12.2 with SAS ModAct 5.30 but also works in DBW 1.71.

The ini entries for this vehicle need to be added to the Vehicle sections, not armor, see the respective readme files in the mod.

There are six entries in total for the technics.ini; three are for the moving vehicles and three for the stationary, this was necessary due to the issue with the propeller.

Issues:

There is currently no way of having the propeller turn on and off in the mod, it is stationary in the stationary files but running in the moving vehicles whether they are stopped or moving. I do not know if there is away to do it in the java at the moment.

There were no damage model files with the mod which caused problems in testing as my 4.12 install would freeze when the vehicle blew up, this I cured in a rather rough and ready way by duplicating the Body file and naming it Dead, it does not look exactly right but is a temporary solution until I can find out how to make the necessary files or until someone else comes to the rescue and does it for me.


The damaged vehicle needs work, but I hope the temporary solution will not be a problem:

Hey!  look at them cool Aerosanis!  8) Great work Pete, congratulations on creating some slots for
these fine machines. One day, you must teach me how you did it.
 If these vehicles had wings they would fly above the city traffic!
I like them very much.

I will check into that "dead" vehicle folder and see what I may be able to paint for a damaged skin version for
this model.
Recently I have been painting alot of damaged vehicle skins and other IL2-game objects, which never
 had "dead" versions before.

The tanks type do not need version "damaged".
But vehicles type, stationary or static objects need ... Otherwise they must be "disappear"!  ;)

Hello guys, hope the mod is working ok for you, I tried to make sure all was well before release. ;)

I hope you have a lot of fun with these.


Max, any help with textures would be greatly appreciated, yours are some of the best, I am not entirely sure just what is needed though.  If I remember correctly from the KevinP buildings tutorial the damage model needed to be done in the 3D application and have the textures mapped to the mesh, I do not know how to convert the mesh to put it in gmax so it is as you find it for now, hopefully others will step in and deal with the problems that I cannot. ;)

As for showing you how to do it I would gladly try, although I needed help myself to get these to this stage, not sure I followed the instructions as my tutors would have liked but they got me in the right direction at least so I hope they are not too dissapointed.

There is a excellent tutorial on setting up eclipse in the school, you will need to do that first so you have the tools, from there my source files for the Aerosani are available in a thread in the school where I asked for help.

As Gabriel has pointed out there was a tendency for the vehicle to dissapear when hit, this was a moving vehicle as well as the stationaries, it seemed to me that was what was causing my sim to lock up as the explosion happened, my cure was to make a copy of the Body MSH and name it Dead.  Probably not the best way to go about this but for now it works.


Sorry for any issues guys, this is the first vehicle I made a slot for, I am still learning. :D

Hello guys, while playing around with the entries for these in the technics files I found an alternate way for the destroyed vehicle which you may prefer to the one already shown. ;)

It shows very little damage as such apart from the flames and the slightly lob sided pose of the vehicle, however, it
may be more to your liking:




Here is the entry to change, this is just a portion of it:

i just wanted to point out, possibly for future correction, that your summer and winter models are reversed.
if i understand that the ones ending with 'W' are intended to be the winter versions, then it is indeed reversed - the 'W' models show summer skin, and the other ones show winter :D

Hello Eugene, the 'W' is actually for Wheeled and the 'S' for Ski, I did not actually have the variant names until wcat posted them in the TOW shots above so that was how I deferentiated the armed types, with the unarmed one just plain Aerosani, maybe I should change the java now I have the names. ;)


You would think that with theses models coming from another 1C game Team Daidalos would incorporate them into Il-2 1946, maybe we should make a request in their WIP thread at the 1C forum. :D
