Hi folks
not sure where this issue comes from, but i've been experiencing it on both of my 4122 Modact and TFM installs.
it's been happening for a long time, though it's a minor thing, it's really starting to bug the shit out of me now. lol
i make extensive use of padlock (F4) key while flying, and what happens is, every time i press F4, to padlock a plane, i hear a radio message from my wingman/flight, saying 'roger'
it's like the padlock key is also giving them some command, not that i actually see them doing anything different, it's just a voice message.
it's irritating me now, because it happens so often, and mainly because i have no idea why it happens/what's causing it.
anyone else ever had this issue, or is this another Malone-specific hoodoo bug? :D

I have the same thing with 4.12.2, too. Also after using this button, they are saying "roger" and stopping to obey my in-fight commands...

Hi Radge - i think i have found the culprit mod, can you confirm for me, please?
i use PAL Visual Mod, and i thought to disable this and try it, and it seems at first test that this solves it.
please check if it's the same for you, mate - if so, then i can ask benitomuso to investigate this for us... :D

SAS~Malone:

Did you ever use V4.11? I never did having gone right from DBW 1.71 based on V4.10 over to V4.12.2.

Anyway, here's an excerpt from the PDF from V4.11:

Quote
Note
If AI planes in player’s own flight have not noticed the enemy planes, player has possibility to “point out” the enemy presence to the friendly AI planes by padlocking enemy plane so that it is visible at roughly center of the screen (15 deg. cone). This works even if the padlock is not enabled. Also the commands attack all/bombers/fighters has the same function built in as the padlock key. So issuing “attack fighters” command to your wingman would fail if your wingman has not seen the enemy and you give the command while you don’t see the enemy. Giving the command when you see the enemy at the center of your screen (in cockpit) gives your wingman the direction of the enemy and wingman can attack it. This prevents abusing the attack commands like a radar.
This may be what you're experiencing.

One thought that comes to mind is to find the .wav file that is "Roger" and simply blank it out. I've done something similar to get rid of the frantic "Abort! ABORT!!..." In this one I changed it to the more normal sounding "You are NOT cleared for landing."

no, i tested some more, and it's not the Visual Mod.
so, now i really have no clue.
there is some more details i posted pertaining to the issue, maybe this will help people to test it -

edit - Plowshare, thanks, i completely missed that in the 4,111 PDF!   :-[
that must be it, then.
thanks very much for solving this particular puzzle - as you can see from the post i just linked above, my description of the problem fits very nicely with this information.
so, there's nothing wrong, really, and i'm not giving my wingmen some weird 'disengage from me' order or such, lol - much obliged, Bob!

i was considering the wav edit option you describe, but really tricky when you don't know what the command is that they're replying to - didn't want to silence every 'roger' in the game, lol

i am marking this solved, again, much appreciated :D
