RAF Bomber Command V1.1
« on: July 17, 2014, 03:34:26 AM »

This is something i have been working on for a while, with a lot of help along the way. It is my first mod so forgive me if it is not up to the standard of most mods around here.
I wanted to represent some realistic bomb loads and weapons for RAF Bomber Command aircraft, along with 'Pathfinder' loads that  allow realistic target marking for AI controlled planes. I also wanted to add some new visual smoke and fire effects for these bombs, and address, what i believe, some bomb damage issues. Therefore this mod comprises
•   New load outs for the following RAF Bomber Command aircraft, Lancaster(old and new models), Halifax III, Wellington III, Whitley V, Mosquito IV, Mosquito XVI, Blenheim IV and Fairey Battle. Most based on historical Operational Record Books (ORB's).

•   New bombs and models, including 1000lbG.P, 1900lbG.P, 4000lbG.P, 4000lbMC, 2000lbHC, 8000lbHC, 12000lbHC.

•   Edited versions of existing bombs and models to give representations of, 4lb incendiary, 30lb incendiary, 20lbG.P, 40lbG.P ,250lb Incendiary bomb,  250lbG.P, 500lbG.P, 500lbMC, 1000lbMC, 4000lbHC 'Cookie', 12000lbMC 'Tallboy'

•   Edited and new representations of target marking pyrotechnic ordinance, including Red, Green and Yellow Target Indicators(T.I's). Red, Green and Yellow ground markers(spot fires). 4000lb('Pink Pansy').  Red, Green and Yellow (Skymarkers). illumination and marker flares(white).

•   New target marking bombs based on CY6's 'target marking bombs'. These bombs, when released,  will instruct following AI aircraft to try and bomb their location taking into consideration a random error based on crew experience, year and weather.

•   New fires and smokes for bombs, post explosion. All bombs will have a random chance of producing one of a number of different fire and/or smoke effects, generally larger bombs will produce larger effects but the odd small bomb may produce something representing a 'lucky' hit. Fire and smoke effects will have a greater chance of occurring in built up city areas than in rural areas.

•   Reduced and randomised power and radius for all bombs and randomised visual explosion effect

Please read the contained readme for installation instructions and notes. There are bound to be some problems so let me know and i will try and sort them out.

I have only tested this on a 4.10 DBW1.71 version of the game, it should work for all 4.10 versions, with 4.09 or 4.12 there may be problems with the way the code references the AI routines, i am not sure to be honest as i don't have these versions of the game installed myself.

*****V 1.1 update******

added Lancaster III loadouts (old model) which i accidentally left out of the first release
added Lancaster III loadouts (new model) please note bombs do not align correctly in bombay at the moment!
added Blenheim IV loadouts
added Mosquito XVI loadouts

Credits

I could not have completed this mod without a massive amount of help from the members of il2freemodding. The inspiration initially came from CY6 and his excellent C&C 3.031 mod, but without the help, support and tutorials at il2freemodding none of this would have been possible, so a big thank you guys.
I have tried to include everyone below, as mentioned this has been my first mod and taken over a year so my record keeping has not been what it should. If i have missed someone out it is not intentional, please except my apologies, let me know and i will rectify it. So in no particular order.

CY6 -    Encouragement and support with java, especially early on, and for the initial target marking bomb idea and implementation

Beo -    Pointing me in the right direction, support, and running a superb site with great tutorials.

CW -    support, java help, weapons and weaponslots help.

Texx -    support, java help, new model bombs.

Alexmepr -   support, java help, refinements to weapon models and new weaponslots for the Lancaster

ton -    New Wellington model, java and weaponslot help

Dreamk    -   Permission to use some of his 'flare code' as basis for skymarkers and illumination flares and weapons java help.

Gurner    -   initial smoke and some fire effects used as basis for bombs effects

Santobr    -   New FAB-5000 effect and effects help

Hangman   -   Effects help.

1C: Maddox Games   IL-2

Hope you all enjoy this mod
regards

This is excellent , Slipper.

Thanks.
I hope it inspires a revisitation of Mosquito IV interiors and marker flare type loadouts to other types that used them - I'm thinking of recon planes and pacific float planes marking for naval forces.

I'm really looking forward to trying these out.

****Update****

V1.1 added

included old 3D model  Lancaster III loadouts that i forgot to add to first release
included Blenheim IV loadouts
include Mosquito XVI loadouts
Also included new 3D model loadouts, but bombs do not align correctly at the moment

Just a quick update to add the Lancaster bomb loads (old 3D model) i missed out of the original (no one noticed  :o) and also the Blenheim IV and Mosquito XVI loads that i originally found a problem with.

I have also included bomb loads for the new 3D model Lancaster, however there is a slight problem in that the bombs are not aligned centrally in the bombay. I do not have the time to try an correct this at the moment it needs some Hier editing of which i am not familiar, so if any one wants to correct it be my guest.

p.s gave it a quick trial in 4.12 and it appears to work ok, i have not recieved much feedback on this so can only assume most people are not that interested, i am pretty happy with it at my end so its more or less finished.

You=God
You can read minds, recently bounced my Bombercommand Books in search for historical loadouts,
basicly your ability to stop me from spamming Requests is surprisingly working.
Yeah Baby, real Bouncers, can't wait to fly
Thanks Slipper

Glad you like it mate  ;)

Like i said there is still the problem of the bombs not being aligned centrally on the new 3D model Lancaster, hopefully i can solve this soon.

Very interesting stuff. I wonder wether Benitomuso's radar map mod and the hud config bombassist found it's way into this mod pack.

El_Marta

Glad you like it mate, the hud config bombassist you refer to works fine alongside this mod in 4.101 at least, not sure if works for 4.12 you would have to ask the maker of that mod (Benitomuso i think?) to update it, i don't have the skill or the time to do it myself sorry.

What is Benitomuso's radar map you refer to? i don't remember seeing this, i would be interested to find out about it.

I wanted to include some sort of H2S representation of a radar but couldn't find anything suitable.

I totally missed this one!  :-[
Will have to try it out asap. Looks like a very detailed and much needed addition to the "Il-2 after dark" department.
Big thanks and congrats!

Your welcome Sputnik. To be honest CY6's and your work in the nightfighting area of this game is what inspired me to make this mod  :-[

I am a big nightfighting fan, and the work you have both done has been excellent in creating a realistic as possible interpretation of the night war.

As regards this mod, i intend to release an update soonish, which addresses a few issues, and polishes it up a bit. Particulary the Lancaster bomb bay alignment problem. I will also post some more instructions and pictures so that users can correctly use the AI 'Pathfinders' to full effect.

My only wish now is for a 4.12 update to CY6's C&C mod. By the way do your radar mods work correctly in 4.12? I'm afraid i still use 4.10 for nightfighting, but i hope to convert to 4.12 when all the essential mods for nightfighting  work with it.

Still testing, but rest assured, they will...sooner or later. Because Il-2 without C&C is like a one-engine-out situation. ;)
