RAF & RAAF Hudsons

British and Aussie Hudsons adapted from Edlor's Hudson skins for Gio's A-29.

RAF VX-V (serial T9303) ca. 1940 serving with 206 sqdn. North Sea maritime patrol. This a/c may have flown in type A roundels at one point and may also have flown in typeB rpoundels later.  Link to Type A updated 9/21/15

Thanks Dona, very welcome skins, only IMHO the English version should have 'B' type roundels on the upperwings.

I've done a bit more research and it would appear that between Nov 39 & June 40, following an incident involving the misidentification of a Coastal Command (CC) Anson, all CC aircraft, including Hudsons, were required to have "all" their roundels changed to red-white-blue Type A.  The red-blue type B roundels on the upper wing were found to be very difficult to distinguish during aerial intercept by friendlies.   VX-V (T9303) was delivered to 206 Sqdn sometime in 1940. So conceivably it wore type A at one point and may have later reverted back to type B.  However this aircraft failed to return from a mission on 10/16/40.    Anyway I've included both options in the first entry above.  Enjoy

Thanks.  The reason for the change was news to me as well.  Anyway, researching camo and markings is always fun.

That it is Dona  ;D

I find that you really need to have a really specific point in time for the aircraft you want to depict as the difference in a week or month can vary the aircraft's markings. Also some of the illustrations on the web are not totally accurate. Some are more of how the artist would like to see the aircraft depicted ( Artistic licence as they call it )so needless to say good reference photos of the aircraft in the time period you wish to depict are a necessity.  ;)
