Hi SAS...
A couple of years ago I had started on reworking the NMF for the MiG-15 to bring it up to the same standard as my F-86 Sabre template (which US Grant has done wonderful job of updating to feature additional models beyond what I had original created). I fully intended to 'dull down' the metal and make it less 'Air Show' in quality, however, real life and other interests got in the way and I walked away from the project. In the past month or so, I've become very involved with Hanger19...and some very cool stuff on the horizon.
The other night on Skype, eMel gratiously shared some of his work he had started on the MiG and gave me the okay to finish it up...so, diving into the deep end I've taken on the MiG once again and one of the most difficult things to get right for IL2 aircraft...natural metal finish (cue the horror movie music sting
dun-dun duuuuun ??? )
Progress so far...just the metal, some marks and basic lines/rivets:

Trying to get that dull, grey/blue look that still has the appearance of unpolished metal...
Thoughts? Opinions? Well, keep them to yourself 'cause I like it!

Honestly, any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated...it's been ages since I've messed with anything like this, so it'd be cool get another couple thousand sets of eyes to take a gander at it.
Cheers,
KC
BTW...the Panther template is still in the works. Just had to take a break from it and try and sort out this metal quandary for the MiG.
