Release: Lancaster bombbay doors and airfield personnel
« on: February 01, 2015, 12:28:35 PM »

As I did with the B-17 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,39099.0.html) I created a 'standalone' object for the Lancaster bomb doors in order to simulate open doors on the ground.
They are at the right height and angle for a stationary Lancaster so it's just a matter of sliding the object under the Lancaster and lining it up.
It's a bit of visual "cheating" but as you can see the effect is not bad.
Included with this are the three personnel to the right of the picture;  a groundcrew holding chocks, a groundcrew standing by with fire extinguisher and an RAF officer with a flaregun (no, the flaregun doesn't do anything unfortunately.  That's beyond my skill level).

I hope it adds to your immersion factor.  Enjoy.  Any issues, by all means, let me know via this forum.

Very nice. Thank you. :) Have you looked at CY6's Cammand and Control mod? There is an obeject that looks like a box that shoots up a flare when aircraft approach the field. I cant remember but I think it only works in the evening hours in game. You may be able to change its 3do with your flar gun man and go from there to make it a stand alone object.

Really great, this is the second new mod this morning without a single line or word on how to install them? ???

 What would it cost just to add a few lines in a readme? after all that work? :(

Frankly, I have enough of your complaints and nagging.
You were warned by Storebror. Now you are out.

Gerax;
I completely forgot to include an install text.  That's my fault.  I sometimes assume everyone knows how to do it.

For teddybear;
it depends on your mod but essentially you place each objects folder within your mods folder.  My DBW setup is a bit convoluted but, as an example, is as follows;

Il2 Sturmovik/#DBW/Airfield Equipment/3do/Fireextinguisher     (NOTE:  The folder "Airfield Equipment" is something I created and may not be necessary for your own setup.  If you check where/how the mod folders in your own game are set up you should be able to follow that example)

While I've checked this out only in DBW and it works there's no reason why it shouldn't work in other modded versions such as HSFX or UP etc.  That being said, I'm not familiar with the folder layout of those particular versions.

The static.ini file is located in the #DBW folder under the STD folder under some sub folders (keep drilling down until you see the list of files).  Use a text editor to open the static.ini file and add the appropriate text at the end.  If you do it correctly then your 'new' object will be the last object in your FMB Objects list.

tomoose, is not your "fault".  ;)

We have two kind of members:

those who see something is missing or buggy,
they work out a solution and post it.
Ot at least they ask nice for some fixes or help.
Maybe even with posting the log(s)!  :P

But others bitch and complain only! They think SAS and the modders
here are obliged to "serve" them. This is plain wrong and we will
not tolerate it anymore.

@Tomoose, everyone who has bothered to understand how to add mods to their game, knows either how to install them or how to ask nicely if they have a problem....

.. we value your input and you are doing the community a great service, so please take no notice of Teddybear's suicide note ......  ;)
