tutorials?
« on: February 22, 2015, 11:39:18 AM »

I'm interested in making some bits of "nose art", and though I've created some pictures in the nose art folder of my game, seemingly of the right size and bit depth, I can't get them to appear on the aircraft, though they do appear on the nose art list. I was wondering if anyone has posted a "tutorial" on how to make proper nose art for the game. Basically, What are the requirements for a picture to become nose art in Il2?

well...

noseart appear only on aircraft that have a pre-defined spot for noseart.
you won't get them to work on the axis side.

try the classics: B-25, B-17...

?
works?

Thanks. Problem is that I'm talking about airplanes that use nose art- like the B-17G and the P-47N. Nothing appears.

I use GIMP for all my artwork and here's a couple of things I've found over the years : Nose art is Indexed and 256 colours. When exporting do NOT use "Run-Length Encoded" and make sure you "Do not write color space information" (this is a check box that, by default on mine, is blank and therefore adds this info).

And here's something really simple for those that are saved correctly but still don't show: The name MUST NOT have any spaces. I scratched my head for a week a long time ago wondering why some nose art wouldn't show up - I forgot the "_" between words!

Hope this helps.
