Many thanks for the info, downloaded installed and seems to working fine now.
Seems strange that not many have posted about the problem with AI diving  into the ground.
Lets hope  there are no extra side effects with the fix.

Oh mei. Sorry, but that is not correct.
I only packed what was created by modders before.  ;)

The hereos are Anto who did the main part of Engine Mod, all the guys who did the mods he put in/adopted into EngMod (see the credits list here), Storebror who helped and fixed whenever needed and S3, Western etc. who did all the necessary patches to have Jets like Harrier-II, F-18 flying in Il-2 skies.  :)

And for sure I forgot some guys, please forgive me.  :(

Oddly, I don't seem to have this problem.  They do tend to fly into mountains in front of them rather than flying over but no diving into the ground on takeoff.

You are fortunate. Maybe it is an Online thing? 
I was flying  this mission where 12 P38's start up and taxi round the base to the end of two parallel runways.
They all line up behind each other and take off. Climb to around 1500 feet and after clearing the Base - dive into the ground.   
Other aircraft that were already airborne (air start) do the same thing about 5 min's into the mission.
The Engine mod posted here by SAS~Gerax  resolved the issue and now they all stay in the air. 
True,  if you don't plan the height correctly - sure they will fly into hills/mountains.   That is a function of the mission builder.  The diving into the ground was something else -  Looked like everyone just committed suicide  :(

Glad you have not seen this - means you are ahead of the curve...  :)

If you ever do -  Do try the Engine Mod Fix -  it works.

The only kite I  do not have a load out is the  Zeppelin_Staaken_RVI  But this is a German Bomber not a Airship

I do however have bombs on the 3 Airships included.
Took a look in the air.ini,  also  Weapons Properties  and the Plane Properties in the \i18n folder of \STD and all are listed with what looks like good data.  Including the Staaken_RVI

I am not sure if there is another place it should be listed as well   :-[
 
Maybe someone else with more knowledge can help you.
 
The Three airships  seem to be OK in QMB anyway.
Dirigibile_M            Dirigibile Tipo M, 1916
Zeppelin_M            Zeppelin M, 1915
Zeppelin_P                    Zeppelin P, 1916

All of these have a load out for Bombs.





The Zeppelin Staaken_RVI  bomber does not

the specific problem i had with engine mod + western patch was that it somehow made my enemy planes much stronger (more armor, resisting more hits) or my bullets weaker. since there are no error messages this problem is very hard to describe or even prove.

i experimented a lot today and found a specific classfile that seems to be responsible for my problem. now i am trying to get western to look into it :)



in the meantime i have a super custom version of the CUP engine mod + western patch (to fix AI ground collision) + Japancats MergedEffects 2 Beta that seems to work for now.
i am pretty sure there are problems with some things, but i was able to get all the common crashes and problems solved for me. no crashes on bomb drops, bullet hits, AI maneuvers, carrier takeoff, etc.

ps: japancats mergedeffects 2 open beta is available at his blog, he bundled it with engine mod, but not sure which version. i extracted only the classfiles i needed for the effects and made my own folder on top of my engine mod... not for the novice!

I see you have the same as me. The airships can carry bombs but the problem is in the Staaken bomber.
I checked the weapons_ru file inside dof/std/i18n and it says that it should carry bombs.

Well, maybe further we have a patch for that.
I will post what the weapons file shows tomorrow.
