imho these are the files you need from the modacts SFS_AUTO/sas_sound_01.sfs:

Presets\sounds\aircraft.common.prs
Presets\sounds\aircraft.common_w.prs

Samples\wind_rear_00m.wav
Samples\wind_rear_01m.wav

Yep I agree with you.

That's what I had tried to fiddle with in Jiver's soundpack. However, I did not think about using the SFS tool and copy those from the ModAct pack. Actually, I did not notice the SFS unpacking tool was publicly available.

Thanks for the help vpmedia.

I'm a texture guy so I dont know much about anything except Photoshop :)
I'd try to extract (with sfs extractor https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16581.0.html ) the SAS modact sounds (SFS_AUTO/sas_sound_01.sfs*) and look for a sample which has 'wind' in its name and replace Jivers wind sample with that. If it doesnt help I'd do a string search in the presets and see which one has the name of the wind sample and replace the Jivers prs with that one.

* you need to add the list I posted to the sfs extractors filelist.txt

You don't need to replace a sound file in your SFS_AUTO/sas_sound_01.sfs or SFS_AUTO/sas_sound_02.sfs files. 4.12 now supports custom sound files.

If you place your custom .wav file in your 'my_samples' folder, it will override the corresponding .wav file in your SFS_AUTO/sas_sound_01.sfs or SFS_AUTO/sas_sound_02.sfs files.

This only takes a few seconds and then you can fire up the game and see if you like the new sound. If you don't care for the new sound, simply delete it from the 'my_samples' folder and you are done. No need to be replacing files in your SFS_AUTO folder.

I said that he needs to extract the sound sample from the sfs and use that one instead of Jivers.
It doesnt matter where you put your replacement sample, you can use the old mods folder method or the new "my_samples" folder but since we're talking about Jivers soundmod the mods folder is the only choice which makes sense ;)
