I think this problem may be down to the vehicle.ini file.

Griffon, looks like you have the vehicle.ini included with WingFlyrs mod but the one in CUP looks like it's the stock one. The stock vehicle.ini will load the stock models in the object viewer and the texture mappings may be misaligned if differently named models were used like in the case with the Kurogane (live.sim vs live.him).

All vehicles should really be checked in FMB to see if they're behaving properly "on the road" vs "the showroom".

Hello Moe!

I just checked against the original readme of the two mods that affect those vehicles and their readme files do not involve any change in the vehicles.ini, just the change to the technics.ini, and thats the one I have posted...

Absolutely Griffon. For the vehicles to work in a mission it's the technics.ini file.

The vehicle.ini file is used by the object viewer to load 3d models into the little window when you click "view object". The vehicle.ini file included with CUP is the same as stock and loads the stock models which the new skins will not fit. The vehicle.ini included with WingFlyrs mod gives you lots more objects in the Object Viewer and loads the updated models which the skins do fit.

funny thing is I only added the entries of the technics.ini and did not copy over anything from the two mods :)

Using winmerge showed that many entries especially in the tanks section were different to what was in CUP but I guess you are right when you suggest to first check the vehicles in the actual sim and not only in the object viewer
