Mod Compatibility
« on: March 18, 2015, 09:54:59 AM »

I have the steam version of IL-2 1946 which is patched to the latest version. does this mean I can't use mods from previous versions?

When SAS members have checked compatibility for old MODs, those results are shown as colored Icons at left of topics' titles.

I figured as much but will 4.09 mods work on 4.12 games, I ask because there are a lot of cool modded planes out there and their all for a version lower than the one I have.

Well, I guess...not, because as already stated above, old mods were tested to find out if they work with the newest patches or not.
Maybe you are potentially a "Rebel"... :D

I was such a rebel in the past until I gave up the cause.
Indeed, there are many mods from that time that were not updated by the authors, for many reasons, so that some members decided to stick on that version because they decided it was impossible to live without those things.
Go to their camp, take a look and...Good Luck! ;D

I really don't wish to downgrade my game so that's why I was hoping that there would be some backwards compatibility.

some mods aren't updated for the latest versions, so... :-(
still a hell of a lot out there though.
is there something specific you are looking for, but unsure of?

Deutschmark's P-26 Peashooter would make a nice edition to my aircraft roster
