Radar use
« on: April 06, 2015, 12:24:47 PM »

Hi there,

Seems like things work well in CUP for me at the moment. Got a question about TJW though. I have only flown the F-4 and the F-18 so far, but in both planes the radar screen says INOP. I can shoot the AIM 9 no problems (although I do not get a lock on sound, just a voice saying launch authorized) but without radar those AIM 7's are just sitting there, and there isn't an option of loading 6 AIM 9's lol

In videos I have seen, the radar is working so is it something I am doing/not doing?

Thanks

F-4 has no Radar working in today's version.

F-18's radar usage is written in PDF in F-18 release topic.

You can download the F-18/AV-8B manual here: https://www.mediafire.com/view/nfperf80os341p0/USMC_F-18CD_AV-8B_Manual.pdf

As described in the manual about radar under the section 3.b.i:
Quote
Radar is off by default and when engine is off. To turn on radar, use MISC key 1.
Range while search (RWS) mode:
Scan mode is activated by default. You can see the beam moving left to right. Only target within the beam will be lit up. Search range is 40nm. Display ranged can be adjusted by using bombsight +/- speed key.
You can move your Cursor around using bomb sight distance/side slip key. Once you have move your cursor toward a target, press MISC key 3 to lock onto the target. Target must be within 30nm before you can lock.

Hope this helps!

What might be also helpful is this:
Quote
Target while search mode (boresight mode): you can activate this mode by
pressing Radar mode key. It will be a combination of RWS and STS. It will achieve lock on any aircraft in front of the F-18. Target must be within 10nm for this mode to lock. This is very handy in DF situation.

Thank you Constanza, This will help a lot.

I did try a search before I asked the question, in fact I did different searches using "how to turn on f-18 radar", "F-18 radar", "Jet Radar", but I never saw a manual to download  8)

Hi Kev

There is a set of training missions out of Pensacola with very detailed briefings that describe the required keys and mappings for new jet functions.  Find them under SINGLE-MISSIONS/USMC/Harrier Training and Hornet Training.

Hi, I'm trying to find those training missions mentioned by Monty, but they don't appear in my mission folders. In fact, I don't see any new missions except for the Me-321 and G-11 missions described by Uberdemon in his supplement manual.

I've also looked in the original CUP-ZIP files and I found that in file C.U.P.- Module 04 - the Jet Age Pt04 there is a Mission folder, but it only includes background, award and rank files. No missions inside.
Anyone knows where can be found those jet training missions?

Thank you
