Dsmith71, can you measure your average fps using the Black Death track?
That would give me a clue about the nature of the problem.
Btw what modpack are you using?

Hello vpmedia I am using CUP I only have the Maps and WAW installed at the moment.

My Control Panel settings are default global except for;
Anisotropic filtering= 8x
Antialiasing mode = override
AA= 4x
Power Management= Prefer Maximum Performance
Texture filtering-Anisotropic sample Opt.= off
Texture filtering-Negative LOD bias= clamp
Triple buffering = on

Black Death;

Visibility distance = High (Avg: 53.322 - Min: 17 - Max: 63)

Visibility distance = Very Low (Avg: 58.324 - Min: 25 - Max: 63)

Let's change a few values here, but it will not affect your FPS, just set a few things straight.
All of this applies to the

So what about your FPS?
Black Death;

Visibility distance = High (Avg: 53.322 - Min: 17 - Max: 63)
Visibility distance = Very Low (Avg: 58.324 - Min: 25 - Max: 63)
Your FPS is fine. Period.
It's absolutely normal to have a low "Min" value on the blackdeath track.

My FPS dropped to about 30 with AA/AF enabled when the car column got hit.
Your CPU and GPU are a bit weaker than mine, plus you might not have your game run from SSD, that's why the drop is deeper in your case.
Your Max values show that you run your game with VSync enabled in Nvidia control panel, otherwise your Max FPS would go much higher.
As long as in normal circumstances your FPS doesn't drop below 60, your settings are just fine.
You will notice when the FPS goes below that value when looking around (very good to spot for TrackIR users) because tearing will appear as soon as your GPU can't deliver sufficient frames for the VSync anymore.

Hi I notice you have disabled Process affinity mask. Did you see no improvement at all? Please try it at 252

Your CPU looks like it has a boost function (2ghz when not under load, 3.1 under load). Can you see that it goes up to at 3.1 when IL2 is running? If not, you may be able to change the boost settings in BIOS

Effects=2 is an FPS killer if your GPU can't handle it.
It was an FPS killer on my GTX-550Ti, but now with the new GTX-970 it has no negative effect anymore.
As the description tells "explosion effects for later hardware".
That you can take literally ;)

However if that's a concern, Effects=1 will do as well, that's true.

Your conf.ini settings actually does affect my FPS and not in a good way, the reason being VisibilityDistance=3 (or high) as I have explained before - With high vis. distance i get 4 (yes 4) FPS on my test track over Berlin at low level with external views.  Yes I have vsync on but it is not forced through my Control Panel it appears to be part of the 4.12m widescreen setup. Yes it limits my FPS to around 60 and I leave it on because I use TrackIR and when disabled I get 1000 FPS (yippee) unfortunately when tested the frame rates still drop to the very low numbers I have quoted previously. Max frame rate means nothing whereas Min frame rate is everything once frame rate drops below 30 FPS the human eye detects the missing frames so your 30 FPS would keep your game running smooth whereas my 17 FPS become annoying stutter and immersion killer and 4 FPS is just unplayable. No my FPS is not fine but thank you for your help  :) You may have something about the HDD mine is old it is a WD velociraptor http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/2716# according to the 'Windows (7) experience Index' processor scores 7.4, memory= 7.6, graphics is 7.9 and HDD= 5.9. It was my understanding though that once the game is loaded performance is dictated by memory/CPU/graphics and the Hard disk had little to do with in game performance.

Yes my CPU boosts up to 3.34 Ghz playing this game. I have tried literally hundreds of affinity settings and none of them have worked - yours didn't either but it was worth a try thank you. I am not sure what 252 is supposed to do as IL-2 was still running on all 4 cores. If it has something to do with hyper-threading my computer does not have it. Cheers  :)

It is 6 minutes long so if you want to fast forward to the 4 minute mark my computer has trouble after this point when the bf-109 is flying low over the buildings and I use the hookview. External views cause the most trouble with my PC.

These are my testing results from the Black Death track (i3, GTX550Ti, 8Gb RAM, 1440*900, 4xAA,4xAF, Vsync=adaptive, using SAS modact 5.3 with 22Gb extra mods):



Berlin is problematic for me too, in external view my fps sometimes drops from 75 to 20-25.
Slovakia was also bad until they released a light actors.static, now its playable.
Recently released Burma repaint, Imphal city had terrible fps, so I had to remove 50% of buildings.

Imho theres a max object limit, once you exceed that the game engine cant handle it. Better hardware helps but not an ultimate solution. Of course if you got the best hardware available you wont notice the fps drops as much as me on the i3. :)
