Hung in there  ;) , I've segregated planes into 14 different air.ini files which cover years 1936-1955.
Now I am testing larger ini files, currently air.ini covering 1940-1945 doesn't produce any lag from what I see.

For what it's worth;
I noticed that I was getting a regular 'jump' every 4-5 seconds on the Channel map in HSFX.  Both online and offline.  This despite Nvidia GTX 980, 16G RAM, Win 7-64, and i7 2.9ghz.
It was still playable but annoying.  I tweaked and re-tweaked using the NVidia console but that particular map always seemed to be a problem.  Conversely I had no issues at all with the Western Front map and a ton of B-17s.

I think it's just the nature of the beast.

In the game 7 Days To Die I have a similar problem.  A micro-stutter every few seconds despite having a good rig and optimal graphics setup.  I do not have any issues with games such as Skyrim/Elder Scrolls or Arma3.  I have Benchmark tested with the Heaven benchmark tester software and from that aspect I am definitely good to go.  In short, I cannot put my finger on the problem and a subsequent solution for certain games.

I've learned to live with it.

Crikey it looks like I started something here and that was not my intention. I am merely pointing out a problem with this game whether it be the MOD version or the original. I patched the stock IL-2 one at a time and ran it after each patch and from the 4.12 patch on I noticed stutter problems so it could very well be an official patch that is the cause. 4.12 introduced the widescreen option it may have something to with that who knows? I would have been on here yesterday but the SAS sight was down or whatever

Imho you should try HSFX7. With Il-2 1946 you can have an infinite number of installs at the same time on your hd since it doesnt use registry entries.

I am in the process of doing that now. I know I said no more tweaking but I prefer WW2 over WW1 in flight sims and modded IL-2 would be the best if it worked properly.

Chupacabras84 (Q)What is keeping me (dsmith71) from trying the Berlin Map in stock game?

(A) I dont have IL-2 on my PC and have deleted IL-2 with CUP. I am going to start from scratch again and try HSFX 7.0.

As I stated before: Nothing broken, no need to fix anything.
It's all working to specifications.
Attach a 5t trailer to your Ferrari and it won't run 200mph anymore either.

Best regards - Mike

Yes your frame rates are similar to mine which means my PC is not broken but what about the game itself? Il-2 needs playable maps I dont see the point in having maps that cannot be used by the latest PCs. Team Diadolos should be looking at ways to optimise Il-2 for newer computers or a drastic overhaul of the maps available is needed with lower textures or whatever it is that is causing this problem ( I am no techie).

Are you using HSFX? I am about to find this out for myself but I am not entirely sure that it is the Mods. To me it is starting to look like the IL-2 game engine does not work well with newer (and supposedly) faster computers and this problem shows itself over maps packed with detail such as Berlin.

I would really like to test the Berlin map in the Standard 4.12.2m game.
Whats keeping you?
....

Thanks for doing all the hard work here. When I get HSFX up and running I will let you know if there is a difference.

The reason some people are confused is that youre looking at two problems and not one.

#1

Berlin has the problem of having too many objects in that map square, which I can fix after I finished my current projects in a few weeks. I fixed Imphal city on cyberolas Burma map and got reported fps increase of ~15 fps in CUP.

#2

CUP has a mod or several mods which impact the game performance. These mods need to be identified and removed from the pack. Since we dont have a CUP filelist.txt to extract files only the author can do this fix. I'd start with checking sound/effects/game engine mods.

Yes thank you!!!! Changes to the maps to improve playability would be an excellent idea. Eye candy is secondary to game performance.
