CUP installation step-by-step help
« on: April 19, 2015, 10:48:12 AM »

OK, I've cleared off all previous IL-2 Game files and re-installed it with all the patches to v4.12.2 and with the 5.3 Modact. I hate asking for help but I really need a step-by-step instruction set. I've failed about 3 times now on my own. This should be really easy but I've never done things like this to a game before. Any help given is extremely appreciates

Ok, first I think we should work from a copy of your modact install. Do you have disk space to support that? Also, if I remember correctly, are you using Windows Vista? If so, we cannot install in \Program Files. I recommend that we put your cup install in a games directory off the Windows Vista root directory. Here is a screen shot of my install:

Also we need to make sure your modact install is working. I assume you have done that.

Next, I would like to have your organize your Cup installation files into separate folders. Here is what I recommend...I have a folder in my Documents folder called CUP Installation. In that folder I have these subfolders:

Module 1 is the Modular map expansion. There are 10 files numbered 1 through 10. It should look like this:

So starting with SAS-MME01.rar, copy the rar file to \games\[your cup install] and use the 7zip "Extract Here" command. If prompted to overwrite answer yes.
We will be installing each module in numeric order, and install each rar file within the module folders in numeric order. Whenever you are prompted to overwrite existing files, answer Yes without exception.

Next we will install the DOF files, which are in Module 2. My module 2 subfolder looks like this:

Once again, in numeric order, copy these files one-at-a time to your game directory and extract them. Answer Yes if prompted to overwrite.

This can be a long and somewhat tedious process, so stop and have a beer now.

Ok, now we will install module 3, World at War. At the time I am writing this, there are 8 module 3 rar files. My module 3 cup install subfolder looks like this:

Once again, copy the files one at a time in numeric order and extract them to the game directory. Answer Yes whenever you are asked to overwrite existing files.

At this point, lets stop and see if the game works.

Open the Selector and click Change Settings:

Select World at War in the Selector and click Save Settings. Click Start IL-2 Now

The game should load and you should see the Hangar 19 World at War logo at the bottom-left of the screen:

if it worked it is time for another beer.

Question: what did you do to move the install to a games directory? <-- I've never heard of it before. By the way my CUP install is in a file on my desktop.

This can be a long and somewhat tedious process
Not necessarily.
  • Scan folder in which you keep your modules.
  • Add modules you want to unpack in order you want them to unpack. Program segregates them by name, if one pack named differently it might show up in the wrong order (In module01 pack 10 shows up as a first one).
    If there is a pack like that, just rename it or add it to the list last.
  • Start unpacking into IL2 root folder and wait.

Just add all those modules one by one and the program will keep unpacking them while you can do something else.
You only have to make sure that you added module 01 first and that archives are unpacking in the correct order.
For example, its 1.rar, 2.rar, 3.rar, 4.rar, 5.rar... 10.rar and not 1.rar, 2.rar, 3.rar, 8.rar, 5.rar... 10.rar.

Hi! 37th Year
1) Install a clean version of the IL-1946 4.07,
from the beginning of the installation process until its finish do not run the game.
2) Next, unpack the SAS-2 F'nBigSuperPackIL 4.12.2m Mega patch (2.16GB) to the root folder of the game,
3) Then SAS_Modact_5.30_for_IL-2_4.12.2m again in the same place,
4) All modules CUP:
SAS MME01 to SAS MME09 + CUP_MapFixes
Cup- Module 02 - Dawn Of Flight PT01 to Cup- Module 02 - Dawn Of Flight Pt04 + DOF-patch-04b and dbw1916_skinpack
Cup- Module 03 - World At War PT01 to Cup- Module 03 - World at War PT07
Cup- Module 04 - Jet Age PT01 to Cup- Module 04 - The Jet Age Pt04 + Expansion Module 04 - Jet Age Pt05
and next:
C.U.P.-Module-03- World at War PART-08
SAS-MME10
Then, additions, amendments and files to jgsme:
! SAS_Engine_Mod patch_western_20150114 - unzip and paste to a folder < ! SAS_Engine_Mod > in your < #WAW >  folder and overwrite,
remove 00_PAL-VisualMOD9-v4122 in your jgmse and replace with this:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=39075.0
CUP Stabs4ALL
C.U.P.NationsII
if you need: CUP_ObjectFixes, #WAW_opelblitzfixlight
You can also use this:
Forgotten countries and Ukraine v.2
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,38235.0.html
When using #CUP_Gore For All Planes by Wolfighter not forget to set in conf.ini:

[game]
HighGore = 1,
and:

LOGFILE=logfile.txt
LOGKEEP=0
LOGTIME=0
HISTORY=1024
HISTORYCMD=1024
LOAD=console.cmd
SAVE=console.cmd
FOVlog=1
and at the end:

WepEffect = 0
Also do not forget to set the parameters of water (in my case, water = 4)
for comparison, my conf.ini:

" what did you do to move the install to a games directory? <-- I've never heard of it before. By the way my CUP install is in a file on my desktop."

I created a games directory directly off the C:\ drive. I keep all of my IL-2 installs in \games.

The important part of this step is that if something goes wrong, we have the working backup. I don't expect anything to go wrong, but the spare copy is insurance.
