SFS_MAPS
« on: April 20, 2015, 10:58:40 AM »

hello

I wonder if inside the folder there is only files SFS_MAPS relatives of maps (objects, textures ...) or other files (aircraft, effects, classes ...)
On the other hand: what are the VCL files?

thanks thousand

Yes, there are other files. The VCL files contain VehiCLes including PA_Jeronimo's wheel mod, shippack2, WingFlyr's armor and vehicles and more.

There's also some parts of the engine and cowling mod, the Leo451, P40s, Gladiators and other bits and pieces.

It looks like some of the TFM map packs were compressed without removing some updates/patches to earlier TFM mods. The result is that you can get some unexpected results if you add SFS files to SFS_WAW or SFS_AUTO folders.

 :(

Shame, I wanted to extract only map files ... could try to, but not exactly what files need a particular map.

DBW will cleanest maps? although neither SFS files that would have to be extracted.

ehm stupid question but why do you want to extract map files?????
if you need files from certain maps, download whatever map you like here from SAS or if it is an older map that is not available here, feel free to ask to get the files...
we have some great guys here with magnificent archives, so that would be the easiest option I guess...

I'm doing my own compilation of mods based SAS 5.30. Maps of the cup is, I think, most packaged and wanted to remove them from there, since I have together ... but seeing inside the SFS found mixed with the maps files. I'm not an expert, not a fan of "clean code" but ... In the end I am using the maps of the last DBW, along with the DOF, which worked out well.  :)

You can simply copy over your entire Mapmods folder into the CUP mods folder you want to have your maps in.
That way you have all the maps there as well.

I used the SFS_AUTO folder to put the maps DBW (I've probably gotten more files than necessary, but they work). I have overwritten the all.ini and static.ini in the mods folder.
The fact is that I do not use CUP as such, only the DOF module, with these maps DBW.
another reason to use the old maps is that they have older versions of some that I think are less saturated objects, and my GPU can no longer with them fluidly.

I am also looking tutorials to make new maps, but it seems very complicated and not know where to start, I'll keep investigating.  ;D
